Favorite places you have visited?

what a great bunch of places! I love that North Carolina was hit on. We are planning on some trips here, and yes, I want to go to Ashville. I have requested it many times. If anyone watches Utube, one of my favorite videos is made there. Some monks are doing a sand mandala. It's beautiful. And I believe I have been to Rocky Mount. We like to get around to a lot of places. I love that the family accepted the relationship. I have found a lot of prejudice where we are.

I am interested to see that Keesha mentioned social anxiety. That is a big issue for me. I'm not a fan of large crowds, like to stay off the beaten path, so it's something to take in mind.

I've always wanted to see the Northeast when the leaves are changing, so we will have to plan around that. I'm thinking that we might have to do more than one trip to see all that we want to. There are so many great places! Being from the Midwest, I haven't seen a lot of the world. Iowa had it's own beauty, but I don't think it compares to what everyone here has seen.

Thank you all so much for your input. I'm very excited to take a look at the places you have mentioned. There are a few on my list, but most of these places are ones that I haven't thought of. I'm a great researcher, so you have given me lots of food for thought!

Truly, you have made my day. I'll look forward to planning our trip. (or trips!) This is exciting!!

Lots of beautiful places in the States, Grammie. Will you be flying or driving? Do you prefer beaches or mountains? C? How much time will you be scheduling for your trip?

sorry! I wasn't igoring you! we are planning to drive. I love driving, you see so much. And I don't like flying, makes me claustrophobic. I think I can do both, tourist destinations and off the beaten path, though I'm more of an off the beaten path sort of person. I haven't really scheduled a time frame for the trip. We might have to split it up. I have been in several states, but if we want to see sights, I think we are going to be spending a lot of time on the trip.

Well, I don't know you or your tastes. Personally, I love going to Gettysburg Civil War Battlefield. But that's not everyone's cup of tea. So, your best bet is NYC. No matter what you want, NYC's got ten of 'em. Even a mere walk in the park can be a ton of memories.

We are sightseers, and do love history. I think the battlefield sounds very interesting, and thank you for the suggestion. NYC is on my list for sure. I think it sounds like a fantastic place.

If you have never been to Washington DC, it is well worth the time. I absolutely love the National Mall and all the memorials, the Smithsonian museums... just everything.

We have an RV and love to travel, mostly out west. So many beautiful things to see.

Favorite city: Washington DC.
Favorite NP's: Glacier-Waterton, Tetons, Northern Cascades, NP's in Alberta and BC (Canadian Rockies).
Favorite overseas: England's Lake District
What I expect to be next fave: Planning a month-long trip to hike in Switzerland next year

Sometimes things are where you least expect them. We were camped in a forest in Oregon. I was relaxing in a folding chair with my feet up on a camp stool when a ground squirrel jumped up into my lap. He looked me over and decided that I didn't have anything to eat, jumped down and went over to visit with my wife.
