Favorite songs from childhood

Anyone else remember this son?

There was an old man named Michael O'Finnegan
He had whiskers on his chin-a-gin
Along came the wind and blew them in again
Poor old Michael O'Finnegan
Again again

.. or something like that :p
I think its Michael Finnegan and the last line begin agin. Don't quote me.

I never knew there were so many words to the Michael Finnegan song.
From Wikipedia:

There was an old man called Michael Finn-egan,
He grew whiskers on his chin-igan,
The wind came up and blew them in-again,
Poor old Michael Finnegan. Begin-again.

There was an old man called Michael Finn-egan,
He kicked up an awful din-igan.
Because they said he must not sing again.
Poor old Michael Finnegan. Begin-again.

There was an old man called Michael Finn-egan,
Ran a race and tried to win again.
Got so puffed that he had to go in again.
Poor old Michael Finnegan. Begin-again.

There was an old man called Michael Finnegan,
He drank through all his good gin again.
And so he wasted all his tin again,
Poor old Michael Finnegan. Begin again.

There was an old man called Michael Finnegan,
He went fishing with a pin again.
He caught a fish but dropped it in again,
Poor old Michael Finnegan. Begin again.

There was an old man called Michael Finn-egan,
Climbed a tree and barked his shin-igan,
Took off several yards of skin-igan,
Poor old Michael Finnegan. Begin-again.

There was an old man called Michael Finn-egan,
He grew fat and then grew thin again.
Then he died and had to begin again.
Poor old Michael Finnegan. The end-i-gin.

My maternal grandfather could sing all the old Jimmie Rogers hits complete with yodeling. He especially liked Waiting for a Train

My mom's favorite cradle songs for us were Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and Bye, Baby Bunting, but she sang it as 'Bye-O' with these lyrics:

Bye-O, baby bunting,
Daddy’s gone a-hunting,
For to fetch a rabbit skin
To wrap my baby bunting in

Can't say these are my fave songs but they bring back a lot of memories. I'd hear them a lot when I was growing up.

Kung Fu Fighting
Age of Aquarius
Ballade pour Adeline
Song for Anna

Oh, and all songs from Sesame Street :)

How old are you Jennina ? :) Kung Fu fighting wasn't released until 1974

Hollydolly, you might be a tad too young to remember "Children's favourites" on radio with "Uncle Mac" (Derek Mc Culloch). It ran from 1952 till (I think) 1982 under various guises. It ended up as "Junior choice".
Oh yes I remember Junior Choice... with Ed Stewpot Stewart.. I was 10 when he took over the show...

I can never forget the them tune.. I remember it today as if it was the early 60's..

I spent a good deal of my early years with my Russian Grandma... Although her English was very poor, she just loved when I would sing "You Are My Sunshine" to her.
