Fear of Flying .. or Driving

Yes, but it's still a spectacular drive. Make sure the car is in good shape, don't ride the brakes and don't speed. Or you could take the train to the top for more fun.

The round trip train ride is about three hours (one hour up, 40 minutes at the Summit, and one hour and 10 minutes back down to the Depot), so arriving 30 minutes ahead of time means it's about a four-hour experience.

Wow, I think I would have to do both. Drive it and then take the train. Or maybe take the train first, then drive.

This is my kind of scenery; the scenery I crave for.

Update:
9h 40m, London to Denver. Not the longest flight I’ve been on. Obviously I would also have to later fly on to Las Vegas; it would be rude not to!

It's weird. When my late wife was alive and we traveled I used to hate flying. On take off and when we hit air turbulence, I would hold her hand. Now, that I'm alone, the fear is gone. I am 77 and had a good life and maybe don't have someone to live for.

Anyway, there are 2 factors to that I think about when I fly:
1. The fact that you are safer flying than driving your car.
2. The exploding planes that Hollywood loves in their movies.

My brother-in-law told the corniest joke ever when I got ready to take a train because I was nervous about flying:

"You know, trains aren't as safe as you think. There was a train wreck just the other day!"
"Oh, my Gosh, what happened?"
"A plane fell on it!"

Told you it was eye-rollingly corny!
