Ferguson had at least one shooting(by police), smaller protests, riots and clamp downs to commemorate the one year anniversary of the riots one year earlier.

And protestors arrested only are having their DNA taken.

Personally taking dna is a warrantless search since they are taking personal property no matter how small or microscopic. And it is not like a fingerprint in that a fingerprint is a replication or duplication of personal feature, just like a photo. Also note this appears to be arrests of those at a federal court house. Since when did civil disobedience put one into the same "pool" as criminal felons. This should be nothing but a ticket/citation unless there is physical or property damage.

I see it as the modern fingerprint. It is invasive but I wonder how many innocent have benefited and how many convicted on DNA evidence. Fingerprints are just as personal, just as invasive but anyone who ever served in military, got a drivers license before 1960, has been arrested, has held a security clearance has fingerprints in the FBI database. DNA is probably the most effective tool in determining who a found body is. In today's climate I see some individual personal feelings must give way to the good of all society. It must, however be watched carefully.
