Finally he’s home now!

Sorry for the late response but it is great to hear he is home! He is so fit. No wonder he didn't have more injuries. Thanks for posting the pic. It was great!
He DOES look fit, doesn't he seadoug? We all need to keep that in mind: stay in shape in case of out of the blue emergency situations that challenge our "reserve" physiology!!

Ronni, these are wide leg martial arts pants. They are available for men and for women. He should definitely be able to get these on. Make sure you specify WIDE LEG. They're super comfortable and will offer his legs some warmth. Tell him he looks great.

Those look so....so...comfortable, and "flowy"! Really nice. Like the way they sit low on the waist, can't stand anything tight around the waistline.

Ronni - I know you are very concerned about Ron's progress. But do be careful that you might get burnt out in the process. When my husband came out of hospital many years ago after suffering a heart attack, I was hell-bent in making sure he was comfortable and not over straining himself. After a few weeks of taking him to visit his doctor and having more tests I found I was sometimes going to a quiet place and crying my eyes out. My doctor put it down to exhaustion and told me to take it easy or I might be the next to go downhill. Please accept help from your family or friends if they offer it, and take time to do what makes you happy.

I haven’t updated in a while. Here’s the latest.

He’s healing well according to his surgeon. She’s very pleased with his progress thus far. They removed the splint and cast right before Christmas and now he’s in a boot. Still non-weight bearing though.

He has another appointment at the end of January to evaluate his readiness to begin using the foot again and putting weight on it. Meanwhile he’s managing getting around the house with the aid of a scooter.

He’s still in pain, but it’s gradually lessening. He’s frustrated at his lack of mobility, not being able to drive, not even being able to get outside without my help.

He’s diligent about doing the Physical therapy he’s been assigned, and has begun working out in our home gym again, with his doctor’s blessing and keeping the workouts to upper body and core, and a couple of modified leg lift type exercises. Frustrated that he’s lifting 10 pounds less than before the accident, but he’ll build that back eventually.

All in all he’s doing well and I’m proud of him!
