I know some of you will snicker. It was 8am and the nice manager or whatever he is gave me a smart phone. That's how they do stock, inventory and everything else. I was pitiful...um, how do you turn it on? I tried logging in ten times, but it wasn't me. The password could be reset...yayyy. It took me until noon but yeah I got it!!!! Baby steps...

I'm like you with the new technology Fur, but hopefully it won't affect your employment and the management will work with you, seems like you have a good start there.

Yay, fur!

I'm happy for you. I'm sure you will catch up on the technology soon. I don't know how to use those new phones either.

Really...I briefly considered it...then my nails are long. A tiny touch screen yikes...but one of those stick thingies, a stylus is a big help. I guess the secret is don't panic. You are going to figure this out dangnabbit. Get mad at it...if a five year old can work you, I can too!!!!! You are going to spit out all the information I need right now...are we clear you bastard little handheld device...

My not-so-smartphone gets this kind of talk from me all the time ... :)

You'll get the hang of it Fur. :) I have problems on my smartphone when my nails get long. I've tried a stylus and I don't like them much. Enjoy your new job!!

Thanks everybody, day two was much more laid back. It's not an environment I've seen before. I'm thinking it must be a new workplace model for Gen Y. Like the break room, big screen TV with ESPN and a big leather couch. There's always someone laying there watching a game. The sales floor is huge and there's no micro-managing. There doesn't have to be.
Any task is documented in your smart phone. The last store I was in was like a Communist state. In this place if you're doing a project and not done by the time you're supposed to leave...just finish it up and punch out when you're done. At the old store if you punched out ten minutes past your scheduled time, they would drag you out to the lot to be stoned.
