Probably straight to a gas station … I could borrow the family sedan but wasn't allowed to bring her back empty. Freedom cost $0.32 a gallon back then, and I had maybe about $5 to my name. Filled her up to top off and still had a couple of bucks to mess around the metropolis with. Was a good day. The possibilities were endless
I believe it was to work , cause I’d been very bad and had driven to work prob a dozen times , I had no option ..I was single with 3 children ,no other way of getting to work ( it was in a county town ) and the work was about 3 km out of town.
I only had a 1970 Aussie made Holden I’d paid $100 for , I taught myself to drive ~ I was 25 ( and I’d only recently moved from New South Wales to South Australia )
