That's a good response. I feel you have to trust your inner feelings at a time like that.Their general appearance I guess and any vibes, good or bad, they give off.
How could a woman whisper sweet nothings in his ear? They wouldn't know which ear was working!A bloke I used to work with had one long ear and one short ear, and to try to make them less conspicuous, he tilted his head over to one side, but he always complained about having a 'crick' in his neck.![]()
The Trooper got it correct. The worse part of my job was giving a death notice to a parent(s). I never did it by phone. I did, however, call a parent and tell them they need to get to the hospital now.I have to tell you about a memorable experience I shared with a state trooper. My son had been in a car accident. His vision was blocked by a car in one lane blocking the other lane as he waited at a stop sign. Yes, there was a car there.. the car hit him... fortunately, just car damage... no injuries..
My son called me at home since he was just a few minutes away...I got there and he told me what happened and I heard him tell the trooper it was his fault. I looked at the trooper and put my arm on his shoulder..."Just the phone call every father wants to hear from his son."
What he replied has stayed with me for the ten years that have passed since then.
He said, "Sir, it could have been worse. I could have called you.,"
I have great respect for state troopers. I can't imagine how stressful the job must be. Thank you for all your years you served the public as a state trooper. I always feel good when I am driving and I spot one of them in the area. I know they are very reliable and are there to help usThe Trooper got it correct. I know where heās coming from. My wife and mom had a few rough months after we married. My mom wasnāt in tune with my wife mainly because she wore a bit too much makeup and was always fussing with her hair. My mom would make snide remarks about those things to my wife while I was with her.As I have said before, I have a son who was an Officer with the Sheriff's Dept. His new wife and I had a rough start
and he would stop by my home and talk to me about whatever she was upset about, to get my side so he could sort it out.
I had to laugh because by midpoint I would see those facial tells he wears and ask him... "Son? Am I now speaking with my
son or the Officer?" He would look away and smile, turn and look at me and say "Fair nuff, you caught me, son is back"
I am the only one that could do that and get that reaction.

We too are in a good place now, she is a bit younger than him and just needed to mature some more. We both agreed on that. She can be likeI know where heās coming from. This being Halloween time, I remember telling my mom that my girlfriend (at that time) and I were going to the āHouse of Jasonā from the movie. It was supposed to be a scary house with all kinds of scary people popping out and we had to crawl through a hole to escape, etc. My mom made the comment to my GF āWonāt that mess up your hair?ā My GF knew my mom was making a snide remark and I had to listen to her beat down my mom for the next 5 minutes after we got into the car.
Finally, after church one Sunday, I told both of them to āstop talking to each other because you guys are never going to get along.ā They both looked at me startled and I told both of them if they arenāt going to get along, we canāt visit my parents anymore because you both are trying to make me choose sides and I canāt and wonāt do that.
They apologized to each other and there were no more problems after that. In fact, you would have thought they had been best friends for years. My dad told me he was proud of me. I asked for what. He said for ending the childish behavior they were both going through.
I too believe in seeing the whole big picture, especially when it comes to solving a problem. There is always more than one way to solveThe first thing I notice about a person is everything.
I was encouraged by my parents and grandparents, to get the big picture first. I think that way of seeing the world, leads to clear thinking. If you look for fine details first, then those details may overshadow the total person. I have used this approach to looking at life and things are clearer if you get the total picture first, then focus on important (to you) details.
The first thing I notice about a person, involves all my senses. Look, listen, and smell.

No, I separated my job from my personal life. I know the stance you are referring to and itās not good to use it outside of work. The stance usually sends a message in the right situation. My wife liked it when I wore my campaign hat with the chin strap in place (under my chin). When working, unless it was really windy, I wore the strap in back of the hat. It was policy to always wear the hat when we were out of our vehicle. In the winter, I wore the knit or ski cap.We too are in a good place now, she is a bit younger than him and just needed to mature some more. We both agreed on that. She can be like
a dog after a meaty bone when she wants her way I tell you. Distance was our cure so she could find another threat other than me. She did.
She needs her drama but I refuse to be that drama.
But tell me, do/did you have that Professional stance or look that slides over you when begin to feel frustrated talking to someone? Now that my son has not been doing patrol for a few years, he seems to not do it so much as before.

Look, listen, and smell, is the Indian way that is sadly disappearing. Too much virtual interaction and not enough in person. Years of virtual interaction can be negated by minutes of an in person interaction. Years ago, after being in an online group, we decided to have a meet up. First and last time for me.I too believe in seeing the whole big picture, especially when it comes to solving a problem. There is always more than one way to solve
many things that happen in a life span. I taught my sons this, and they use it. Does it end disasters in your life no, but it sure helps to
enable a person to keep their self respect when it's over.
Getting the big picture takes no longer than noticing some feature about a person.A person waiting for you to get the big picture may have left hours earlier..
It's seems like a good approach when choosing what company you want to work for or career you want to pursue....Meeting someone that involves your sense of smell?Getting the big picture takes no longer than noticing some feature about a person.
Not just sense of smell, but also general appearance, and the way they communicate. For instance, someone that appears attractive and talks pleasant, but smells of heavy body perfume, maybe a sign that they may have addiction problems or maybe no where to bathe or maybe just don't care. They are trying to mask something. WHY? Nothing odd about using all our senses when meeting someone in person. Just a visual has led many down a path of regret. It's seems like a good approach when choosing what company you want to work for or career you want to pursue....Meeting someone that involves your sense of smell?

Yes. A pleasant, light fragrance is okay but I detest being around someone when it seems they've bathed in cologne. There is this one cologne - - - I won't mention the name of it, in case someone reading this may wear it, but it has very warm, spicy, and heavy oriental tones. It totally turns me off. I used to know a woman who drenched herself in it winter and summer.someone that appears attractive and talks pleasant, but smells of heavy body perfume, maybe a sign that they may have addiction problems or maybe no where to bathe or maybe just don't care. Letās go with either orIs this man or woman someone standing in line at the grocery store or a prospective mate?
I have never heard that. I read a Heinlein novel that the half alien and half human that could "grok" a situation and grok the big picture. How is it possible to understand someone by only noticing one or two features? For me, I don't create thoughts about others. I actually try to remain non- judgemental. Then be myself. If we click...good...if not, oh well.Getting the big picture takes no longer than noticing some feature about a person.
Never thought of that...we need the women on this site to respond to that conclusion about the nails..
I think there is over emphasis by some about a women's nails. That seems like a shallow way to judge a woman based only on that criteria. One of my best friends is a woman and she works for a home builder as a carpenter and yes, at times her hands and clothes are covered with dirt. Guess what, after she took a shower and got dressed, she looked like a fashion model! When I see someone with pristine nails my thoughts are usually I wont be asking them join me digging in the dirt.
I do own nail polish. But I use it to paint things. Its enamel paint in a little bottle and it comes with its own brush.
I havent painted my nails since high school. I use my hands for crafting and digging in the dirt.
If you want fancy fingernails Im not your gal.![]()
