FLINT TWP., MI — Hundreds of protesters shut down Miller Road Saturday in Flint Township, seeking justice for George Floyd.

Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, died after being handcuffed by Minneapolis police investigating an alleged forgery the night of Monday, May 25. Video shared widely on social media shows white Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin kneeling on Floyd’s neck for several minutes. In the footage, Floyd can be heard repeatedly saying he cannot breathe as civilians urge Chauvin to get off him and check his pulse.

Now I'm all for supporting a cause, and I support people fighting for the rights of Black people not to be killed by Police .. unless they're killers themselves.. but I have to say in this instance, this has nothing to do with us in the UK that we need to have these protesters out in the streets.. this isn't a support for George this is an attempt to bring our government down.. and during lockdown to boot...

It's only going to take one wrong move and we'll have riots as we did a few years ago, burning and looting just like the USA..the very last thing we need when so many have already lost their livelihood as well as their family members during this pandemic

I respectfully disagree.

It has everything to do with everybody as far as I'm concerned, and the only ones (as in people/countries) not interested in supporting such a cause, are people and countries that suffer from the rollover mentality, where again and again they allow society to kick them without fighting back, where everything in their field of vision is rosy, and/or where those unsupportive of wear blinders.

This is everyone's fight, and the bigger the crowd and louder the voice, the better.

Not true... a man died while in custody.. wrongfully but even so he died in a country that is not British. Do you and your people support the British people here who die in custody ...of course not, you'll sympathise of course if you read about it, you may be very interested in how another country's laws deal with the aftermath , but you won't stand up and march for their rights in your own country because it's not your business.. it's the business of the law and government and people of your land....

This isn't a war... and I personally will be very unsympathetic to this cause regardless of the colour or creed, if we get rampant looting and burning because of this .. ! That's my opinion and I have nothing more to say on this before it descends again into a political argument
 
What's the sad face for Pinky?... will you be happy if it was your business, your only livelihood, your vehicles, which are destroyed in the name of ''justice''..would you ? The murderer has been arrested, what are these looters and protesters looking for now... what do they think destroying innocent people's businesses, homes and vehicles will achieve ? .

Whenever a tragedy unfolds in your land, governing parties from all around the world (including Canada), express their support of your country and the people, and in some cases, extending help if needed, so for you to claim support is nonexistence is sorely incorrect, just as your entry related to marches is equally incorrect, as there are many marches and even protests that are organized here in Canada to extend our voice outside of our own fight.
 
This is the type of protest I was stating should happen to help a good cause of ‘Equality for all!’
I’m not in the least in favour of violence and vandalism of any sort and never have been.

I didn't say there was no support I said there would be, but there would be no huge marches in protest of someone being killed in this country by anyone in Canada, USA Australia or anywhere else.. nor should there be... .. find me a protest where burning , and looting was carried out in your country on behalf of a man in custody killed here..and there's been man y who have died.. yes black... so when you find me evidence of that protest, or protests with thousands of people... I'll back off... but until then.. respectfully you..carry on disagreeing without facts...

Canada most certainly has joined in. Thousands of Montrealers protest police brutality , racism after the killing of George Floyd.

In Canada, people in cities like Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax have taken to the streets to call for an end to police brutality, justice for black lives like George Floyd’s and to draw attention to the pervasive, systemic underpinning such tragedies.

These protests have continued peacefully with little to no conflict between protesters and police. There was no burning and looting since it was a protest not a riot.
