Exactly.
Yes, this is truly heartbreaking. I lived in Ulm, Germany for a year, and have visited it about 30 years after that. I was always struck by the beauty and cleanliness of that country, and admired the way they preserved the "old town" sections of their cities while being breathtakingly modern in the newer sections. I'm going to email my old friends in Ulm, to see if they're all right there. Ulm is on the Danube, in the southern part of Germany, not far from the Alps, so maybe it got spared from this deluge.
