This is being covered by all the major papers, but I picked this source, The Forward, as it is the Jewish newspaper my grandma read. Anyway, posted here with no comment.

A South Florida synagogue this week filed a lawsuit that argues that the state’s new abortion law will do “irreparable harm” to Jews and others who don’t share the religious beliefs upon which the law is based.

Because under Jewish law abortion is required if necessary to protect the health of a woman, and for many other reasons not permitted under the new law, it “prohibits Jewish women from practicing their faith free of government intrusion and thus violates their privacy rights and religious freedom,” the lawsuit contends."

"The “failure to maintain the separation of church and state, like so many other laws in other lands throughout history, threatens the Jewish family, and thus also threatens the Jewish people by imposing the laws of other religions upon Jews,” contends the lawsuit, filed Friday in Leon County circuit court."

Horse hockey. The decision merely put abortion rights back in the hands of the states where it belongs, ACCORDING TO OUR CONSTITUTION. Religion has not one da*n thing to do with it. Some folks need to actually READ the constitution and the bill of rights. Then maybe we can get away from all this deliberately alarmist media crap.

The saga continues.....it is hard to separate religion from the issue of abortion.
Polls have shown that avid anti-abortionists, who claim every life is worth living are also heavily in favor of death penalty?????? Humans!!!!!!!!!!!
If one wants to bring religion into the argument, the Bible seems to support the death penalty. Take the life of another, and your own is forfeit. When it comes to abortion though, it's a purely personal thing. When does abortion become murder? Once a woman has felt a baby moving inside her, she knows there's a miniature person in there. What sort of person can then decide to 'get rid' of it? Having said that, it should be her decision and let it be on her own conscience.

99% of abortions occur during the first 20 weeks, which is before the baby starts kicking. Abortions after 20 weeks usually involve something wrong with the pregnancy that involve either the health of the baby or the health of the mother. That's only one percent of pregnancies, yet anti-abortion advocates act like that's the norm.

As far as the Bible, it also calls for the death penalty for people who don't rest on the Sabbath. :ROFLMAO:

Access to Abortion is a Human Right

and, did you know that.....
Homicide is the leading cause of death for pregnant women in the United States, a new study found

If the GOP ever gets the presidency and control of the house and senate, abortion will become illegal in the entire country.
What has happened is not good news. The religious right will protect the unborn, but will turn a blind eye to children being shot down in their classrooms.

Are the any George Carlin fans here?
Alert: Some bad language.

There is one story in the bible (I'm pretty sure, not really super up on the bible) where a fight between two people caused a woman to get hurt and lose her pregnancy, and the bible did not consider that murder (I think it said a fine for the loss of the fetus but eye-for-eye life-for-life if the woman died).
