The thing is, if Wise wasn't packaging this sort of food 25 years ago, why should anyone believe it will really last for 25 years? The TV commercial tickled me because they were cooking this food on an electric or gas stove. If a catastrophe so major happens we can't get safe food, what makes Wise think we will have electricity or gas? Or power saws to cut wood? Or that we won't need the pots and pans to bash our neighbors over the head when they send their children to steal our food they won't be able to cook on their stoves either?
I grew up during the Cold War nuclear war "terror" of fallout shelters and school evacuation drills.
No war.
I survived Y2K. The electricity did not even blink out.
Tornadoes have taken out the electricity some years and blocked cars in driveways. Snowstorms have done the same. I'm still here, and all in one piece.
I'm not worried about some huge national or regional catastrophe. One reason I just "want" to live at the beach. I don't actually live there.
I'm more worried about being shot by a looney woman who has a gun but no target practice experience who might panic seeing a man in the ladies' room and shoot me by mistake! Hopefully stores will soon start putting bullet-proof stalls in their rest rooms!
Call me a grasshopper if you will, but hey. Ants can't fly.
