For a year ?......

After living and working in Vietnam and Indonesia for almost nine years I'd go back to SE Asia.....I've done my research and if it weren't for the lack of quality / up to western standards medical and dental care everywhere I'd be retired full time right now in Vietnam.

I'm taking this as a wish fulfillment question. That would be for me spending a year in Vienna on VACATION with all expenses paid. I'd stay in a lovely hotel near the city center, so no cooking, no cleaning, no nothing except for enjoying being a a tourist and visiting with my relatives and a few friends that I had met previously. And I'd visit all around Austria that I didn't get a chance to before. It would be so great.

Buy and renovate the old house I grew up in, in the country. So many memories there, good and bad. I’d replace the old horse barn that was torn down to make room for a new place. I’d crawl out my window,at night, and sit on the roof and watch the beautiful stars and things that can’t be explained.

Yessir, I’d spend one year of my life doing this.

I would like a cabin by a lake among pine trees. I would fish, hike, swim, read and do my craft projects.. Peace and quiet. No TV, or computer but I need someone to chop the wood and start the fire, bring me provisions. Indoor plumbing with nice hot running water and no outhouse. The best of two worlds.

We have traveled to many Islands, Hawaii, Canada, The States....We use to have a Condo in Myrtle Beach, we had to sell cause my husband had Cancer...(so far so good)
I wouldn't go to Europe....Never ever!!!! It's not my thing....I love the USA....Daughter wanted to take us to Italy in June next year....I told her to have fun....I declined...
When you get older and have had a great life, I just want peace....I do have my family and friends...that is all I need.....

I would love to spend that year in Italy, seeing everything everything didn't get to see the first two times I was there. I could spend a VERY long time in the Vatican museums and elsewhere in Rome, and in Florence, my other favorite city there. There are a zillion things I would love to get to see all around Italy.

Olivia, if you've got room in your suitcase, can I come too. I was in Vienna in the spring and I'd love to go back there and to the rest of Austria - Salzburg, the Tirol etc..

Or on the other hand, I'd be a taster in a Trappist brewery (preferably Rochefort) - got to make sure the beer is up to scratch!

Did you ever watch I LOVE LUCY? In one episode Lucy wanted to go along with Ricky and the band when they were lucky enough to get some gigs in Europe. Ricky couldn't afford for Lucy to come along. So what she decided to do was hide herself out in a large trunk that Fred and Ethel used in their vaudeville days. They just had to drill a hole in it for breathing. Now I think that would work better than a stuffy suitcase.

Yes, you should go back. I had lived in Salzburg with my mom and brother for a short time while waiting to join my dad in the states. I also visited there on one of my trips to Vienna. I didn't really have enough time there, though. Took a train there from Vienna with my cousin.

Of course, you should go to that Trappist brewery. And visit the beer gardens. I really don't think that one year would even be enough time.
