For The Love Of Dogs

My doggos favorite place in the world is Fort Funston, a park on the southernmost tip of the Pacific shoreline in San Francisco. I took them for a walk Wednesday but the tide was too high to walk the beach so we stayed high above the cliffs and I left the ball and chucker in my bag and enjoyed watching them romp. They were running up and down narrower stretches of the trail and then ran all around this little valley a couple times before I could get my camera out.

Afterwards they were content to fall inline and follow me back to the car. Actually my 7 year old fuzzier Aussi/heeler always follows closely behind owing to his heeler heart. 1 year old McNab Ember does the same I believe because he sets the tone.

The ravens enjoy the updrafts at the edge of the cliffs, but taken just yesterday.

The sea below was swamping the beach, taking out lots of sand and further eroding the cliffs. Some people needed rescue here following our heavy storms this month. I decided not to take close to the cliff's edge last Wednesday.

I do miss having a big dog as you can enjoy moments like the ones you have Mark which you can’t do with a 5lb dog.

Especially here where coyotes look on small dog favorably as part of the menu. Mine are 45 and 36 pounds, so I have to be vigilant too. But two together have a better chance. When Smokey was a yearling a tall pair of coyotes showed themselves on a bluff about twenty feet above the path and maybe 50-100 feet ahead of us. Neither he nor Heidi took the bait but I put him on leash.

We have lots of coyotes in Reno also. People are also posting videos of bobcats in their backyard caught by their cameras. When I had my house I always went outside with the dogs even though I lived right in town.

When I had Noki he was 80lbs so I didn’t worry about anything coming into our yard. I also would take Noki hiking off leash but he was very protective of me and always kept close so I wasn’t worried about him getting lured away.

@Teacher Terry, my brother has a little dog they love a lot and fits their lifestyle perfectly as he works hard enough not to want a lot of activity and they prefer the virtual world - which isn't great of course, even though that's where we talking about it. ;)

Their Lana: she is very particular about who touches her which is pretty true of my two as well.
