For those in N.Y, Ky, Mi, Oh, Pa, and Ind. Did you hear This?

I'm in N.J. and I read about it a few days ago. I think at the time only 3 states were affected, now they've added more I see. This is why I don't fool with lettuce. My sister cracks up when I say that. There have been too many problems with lettuce over the years. My salads start with steamed broccoli and I've never been one that has to have lettuce on my sandwiches. At first, however, they reported that it was only lettuce that were on the sandwiches and that the salads got lettuce from a different source.
 
I've noticed that all of these e coli lettuce stories involve Romaine lettuce. I've never heard it about any other variety. I wonder why that is? Seems strange to me.
 

I like romaine lettuce but each individual leaf has to be thoroughly washed. Could be farmers top dress their crop with animal manure or spray it on their fields. They do that here. Wendy's may have been hit or miss with the washing because it takes more time.
