For Those That Do Not Know What The Haka Is

Oh! dear no sense of humour Fern????

Here you go especially for you.:bigwink:

There is nothing rude about it Warrigal, all the English fans were doing was singing to the All Blacks, no different to them performing the Haka to the English or any other team.

No the English won that game. on their home ground at Twickenham.

They were not acting like yobbos, they were supporting the home team.

On that note I am off to bed, I had enough of teachers when I was at school without you start lecturing as well.

I find the Haka very impressive. I think the English were disrespectful, should have waited til the Haka was done.

Morris Dancing? I don't think it would do for pre-game but maybe afterwards after the men have had a few.

Time to lighten up a bit methinks!!

Rubbishing Morris dancing... feel free... but I doubt you'd do a better job than the Two Ronnies.

Or Bill Oddie on the subject of the traditional British martial art of Ecky Thump.

Satirising one's own culture is one thing. Disrespecting someone else's needs a delicate touch.

I'm not objecting to the parody of the Haka or the singing at the rugby match - it's the lack of respect shown by doing it during the haka.
As an Aussie I have great respect for the Kiwis. That English crowd didn't show any at all. Their bad IMO.

Good one Pam, did you know the suggestion that the English do the Morris dance for the All blacks has been muted for several years now.:bigwink::lol1:

So you think the English fans did not show any respect to the Haka why on earth should they when..... the IRB rulebook is clear: you must not advance past the ten-metre line while the haka is being performed. If you do, the IRB will slap you with a fine............in other articles I have read the opposing teams are not allowed to even respond to the Haka, isn't that being disrepectful to opposing teams that they are not allowed to respond so naturally the fans do it for them, like it or not.

There is also this.......
Gardiner, also commenting on the Welsh wanting to sing their national anthem in response to the haka in 2007, said: “From a traditional point of view it is perfectly appropriate for the Welsh to seek a response to the haka”. Unfortunately, the All Blacks refused to comply; and in a huff performed the haka in the dressing room...........it seems that the All Blacks think they are too precious for opposing teams to respond.

I could go on and on about the research I have found this morning but I won't, I have had my say and am now going to leave it, if you still think the English Fans were rude that is down to you but as far as I am concerned they were just responding which is something any opposing team is not allowed to do.

By the way take a look at what the Maories have to say.

You have very little understanding on the long held tradition. No the AB's are not too precious, they are within their rights (to have their tradition upheld & the respect due )the opposing teams are entitled to have their own tradition/s if they choose to, which obviously they don't.
I have heard the English & Welsh as well as Australian crowds drown out the haka with the singing of their 'traditional song, like Swing low.
If anyone is precious it is Maori themselves, and how.
It wasn't that long ago that South Africa, mounted a traditional challenge before the game, it was brilliant, I am sory that they stopped doing it.
