For you Canadians >>>

Very interesting! Surprised at many of them like donuts and mac and cheese. Half having college degrees is amazing!

When I lived in Detroit, MI, we had to go SOUTH to go to Windsor, Ontario; The only part of Canada that is SOUTH of the USA.

Something few people realize.

Well blow me!
How on earth was I NOT told that when I was in School a few years ago, I don't know! ;)
And all those other facts as well, I could be up all night here!

And I didn't know this one either...

LIGHT IS WHAT MAKES BEER GO BAD!

...Wifey, put that light off, NOW! :eek:nthego:
Light
is what makes
Beer go bad.

Very interesting! Thanks for posting that, Falcon.

Interesting timing, too; I was just looking online for senior apartments in Michigan, where a friend lives, and even though the one I found looked nice I kept thinking, "But Michigan is so far away, and it's so cold!" Then I came here to the forums and saw your post and as I watched the slides I thought about how for about 40 years now I've been wishing I could move to Canada. Then I thought, "But it's so far away, and it's so cold!" But one good thing about Michigan is that it's close to Canada, so if I moved up there, I could visit Canada anytime I like! :)

(My mother was born in Canada, I think that's one reason I wish I could live there. Other reason -- it just seems like a really nice place.)

Prostituting is legal, buying the services is not,lol

My goodness,I thought -45 with the windchill was the worst but -63?? Wtf

The mall of america is owned by Canadians, lol

U.S and Canada border is the longest...good luck Trump.tsk tsk

I love Canada.

Thanks Falcon!

You know how we always go to bakerys and cafe's and we tell ourselves to control ourselves (for the sake of the bum of course:eek:) so we only order one goodie? Well on my 45th birthday, we went to a new Krispy Kreme donut place across town and I threw caution to the winds and I at seven of the most fabulous, warm from the fryer donuts! It was a memorable day and I didn't feel a bit of guilt! I only felt full.....really full.

And when my husband first came to Vancouver, he moved into a rooming house with a communal kitchen and at almost every hour of the day, he said there was a pot of Kraft Dinner cooking. They lived on the stuff because back then they were paying 10 cents a box and since no one had jobs yet, it was the go to filler.

Where was your mom born Guitarist? Maybe I've been there. And it is a really nice place. From the beautiful Rockies on the west coast and the Coastal ranges to the rocky beaches where the orca parade past if you're lucky, to our prairies that seem to go on forever (too long in my opinion and they should do something about shortening that trip) to the culture of Quebec City and the interesting blend of old/new in Montreal and then the prettiness of the maritimes...yeah, kind of nice. And most folks are pretty helpful and decent to talk to. Especially in the Maritimes where they'll start chatting you up at the drop of a hat.

And when you fly over Manitoba, holy cow! The number of lakes in that one province and in one region of it is mind boggling to see!

I've been to Newfoundland (would never live there) although it was interesting. And while there was no skating on the ocean yet when we went, it was still miserable cold. We did get to see wild caribou and a wild silver fox came right up to our car and took a sandwich from someone.

And I was glad to see that we have no WMD. Right on!

Debby :)

I always wondered why people would go down south when we have so much.

Kryspe Kreme, omg. I ate so many of them one time that I got sick, lol

Ice caps in the summer, can't wait.

I remember Krispy Kreme when I lived in Tennessee. And they have quite a few over here in the UK.

I am so very familiar with Windsor one might say I live there :)

It is one of the most affordable cities in Canada to live and has a lot to offer besides sharing a border with Detroit. Many from the big cities of Vancouver and Toronto are now relocating to Windsor so home values are now rising.

Currently shedding it's old image of being a lunch bucket town and being transformed into a very diversified city.

Krispy Kreme donuts lasted less than a few months here in Windsor which has the distinction of being a Tim Hortons town with a Timmy's on almost every corner along with the best pizza this side of Chigago.

Windsor rocks! :)

Back in the 60s and 70's we used to go over to Windsor when we wanted good Chinese food.

Nova Scotia is another Tim Horton 'cult province'. Whenever you ask for directions, it's not unusual for folks to say, 'well, go down the street to Timmies, then turn right......' But when it comes to donuts, patriotism should get tossed because there is no competition between a freshly made and deep fried Krispy Kreme donut and the ones from Timmies that are made somewhere else, frozen and shipped. Not sure if you are a Timmies aficionado and if you are sorry, but it's like the difference between a grown in Mexico cucumber then shipped to Canada and my home grown cucumber.

Debby, here where I live the Tim Hortons don't do frozen, you can see them making the donuts. Guess it depends on the location.

I looked on the Krispy Kreme website and they only list 3 Toronto locations, 1 in British Columbia and 2 in Quebec. A little too far for me to go for a donut. But I did try them before they closed up shop here, they are a nice donut but nothing beats a Boston Cream Timmys.

Tim Hortons coffee though is yucky.

Ah Windsor, that was the first placed my family lived when we came from England. We lasted 2 years and moved to British Columbia. Why the flipping cold winter and the mosquitoes in the summer. lol. What was funny was when we arrived in British Columbia it had one of the worst winters ever lol. I could not live anywhere else now, Not seeing the ocean and the mountains would cause me great grief. I have been blessed to have traveled many places in the world and when the plane gets over the coastal mountains I am so happy to be home.

Now krispy creme they made my teeth ache, they have one in Delta here or they use to. Timmies is my place my large double double and ice caps in the summer woot..Plus where else can you get Nutella filled donuts, croissants and cookies, yes cookies filled with Nutella..

Nutella!! Yum. I could never again live where there's no sea and mountains and forests.

Sounds like a pain au chocolat. But I might check it out. I'll be in Michigan in June and there are Timmys around.

I personally don't do Nutella.

I love their ice caps and their breadlike doughnuts :)

French Vanilla coffee in the winter.

I have one a block from my house but I have been able to control myself, lol

I love Nutella! Don't know if you have them in Canada, but I hit Panera quite a few times on our US visits.
