Found my picture and my conversations here on Google

No. Not from here. But I have become ultra careful I guess. I no longer answer emails, texts, or phone calls I'm not expecting or don't recognise.

Same thing happened to my friend.
Never, ever, open anything you do not recognize. Nor, answer a phone number you do not know. I've even ignored a doctor's number because I did not know it. He contacted me through a third person. They, too, have to learn to identify themselves when calling.

My son is an IT Specialist and a Cyberware consultant. He can spot spyware and ransomware in no time, and his clients find him invaluable. He has taught me a host of things to watch out for.

Other than that, I am terrible when it comes to other computer topics.

I use Brave's private browser to log into SF. For one thing, I found that I don't see ads when I use Brave, but was seeing them here when I used Chrome. I have done a Google search a couple of times for OneEyedDiva and nothing came up. Curious. I'll try again later using my tablet. Chrome loads so slow lately when I'm on my computer. Thank you for the heads up.
I just use Firefox to use SF...and a good ad blocker. I don't get any ads on this forum at all... OTOH, I agree about Chrome....

I use firefox on a Mac...there might be a difference...
I have had Macs too HD. But this month, I'm hoping to get a Dell gaming computer. As I mentioned in another post, I can't take this computer anymore after that "upgrade" that wound up being a downgrade. It takes me three times longer to get things done now.

what computer do you have now Diva ?....and how does a gaming computer work on the internet .?..I have no clue about them at all, I thought they were only set up literally for gaming

I have been using Brave to block ads. It recently picked up some malware that is popping up new windows with some address for me to buy stuff. I have go shut it down each time. I don't know how to get rid of the virus/malware. I have run Malwarebytes and looked for anyway I can contact Brave, but have failed in that. I thought Brave was the champ in programming. But it is vulnerable too.

There is nothing totally safe when your on the internet. Bots are running around the sites we visit and the are programmed to get info that is on your computer. Running with a VPN is probably best. I have resigned to being bugged by the involvement in the "cloud". I hope it doesn't eat my bank account. :)

Sometimes I type my name into Google and laugh at the results. Although I have a common first name and German last name, I find so many people with my name. One said that I was from Kanasas and died during WWI, and another claimed that I was both a doctor and a reverend and passed away in 1925. Also I seemed to have owned a business in Johnson City, NY. There were so many others.

I have a 21.5 inch Mac desktop. I made the mistake of "upgrading" to Catalina because the OS before that could not handle the music software my son got me. I wish I had never done it ! That "spinning beachball of death" often happens with almost every operation unless my desktop is completely cleared off and even then sometimes.

A gaming computer simply has more power so to speak and is faster. I consulted with my music producer friend about this. She said for what I need for music production (software), that would be best. She has a Mac, an iPad and two other computers, including Dell. She uses the Dell for her music projects but it can access the internet just like other computers. I think she has Windows 10 or 11. Here is a forum that answers whether or not gaming computers can access the internet:
Can you use the Internet on a gaming PC?

Thanks for that explanation, Diva, I'll read your link shortly... I have a 27 inch desktop MAC but I know what you mean about Catalina.. but that was gone quite quickly.. and we're all on Sonoma Now...

I have literally just spent the last few minutes searching for my name in reference to me on the internet... nothing !... I even narrowed it down to specifics... nothing... and why is that?.. because I have never..ever used my real given name which is attached to any finances, or anything that can be stolen from me... anywhere on the Internet.

Yes they did, thank God because they were guilty of copyright infringement.
I'm not understanding what you meant. Did you mean Google stopped listing that page in Google? Or did they complain to the porn website? Or what?

Otherwise, unless Google owns the porn website, they can't actually edit it. (That would be illegal.)

They did what you wrote in your reply: "I'm guessing that Google stopped listing the porn page that used one of your songs."

I bought an HP laptop, about a year ago, that uses Edge for a browser, and I just now put your username (all lower case) into the search, just for your own info, Diva, so that I could let you know if anything came up. Lots of SF posts did and were listed.
As an interesting aside, I then put my own username in, and there were lots of sites listed regarding info on the name derivation, baby names, etc. I didn't look at all pages to see if it eventually would show SF posts.

It just occurred to me that the word conversation, was used in your title of this thread, and perhaps you or some others, might have a confusion there.

The private conversations you might have with another member on our site, by using the Private messages section with the letter envelope icon, are not public.

If you meant the conversations that you have with others, using posts on these threads on the public part of the SF, then yes, as was explained, those types of interactions are all seen by visitors and can also be accessed on search engines.

Never volunteer information. I found myself on Google too with links to here, which is sponsored by google ads, so it's no surprise, but I was surprised years ago when it first happened.

Thanks Gardrnlover. I should do that. Iused to use the same one everywhere so I could remember it. Then I used different ones for different sites, writing them down in a small notebook. Then I misplaced the notebook. I blame it on my age. :)
Stick your pass words list on a small piece of note paper, to your computer monitor frame with some scotch tape. Hard to misplace that, right ? JimB.

Yes, it was a shock to see my picture on google.

My picture is all over the internet... but if somebody wants to use it, and call themselves Holly Dolly...let them fill their boots... it's not going to affect me financially...

If I care about what happens to my photos, I wouldn't upload them to any forum... I don't care.. as long as my real name is not out there connected with it.. that's fine by me... and I've been doing this for well over 25 years now..

I have actually blocked people I didn't intend to because I didn't recognise their phone numbers. :)

I'Ve been on the internet since it started and this is the first time this has happened to me. I don't care about the picture, it was just the idea that someone could lift my info so easily and the fear it could lead to something more costly.
