Friday 13th... anyone superstitious

No, not me! I was born in the country where folks had a lot of common sense. I always liked to walk under ladders and so far I'm not dead. I leave it to Hollywood with their films to scare the "bejesus" of our the peasants. To prove my point, I was married on April Fool's Day. Friday, the 13th seems to bother Hollywood but it sure doesn't bother me at all. Superstition and education don't mix very well in my book.

St. Swithin was bishop of Winchester from 852 to 862. At his request, when he died, he was buried in the churchyard among the common people, where the rain and the steps of passersby might fall on his grave.

According to legend, after his body was moved inside the cathedral on July 15th, 971. The legend goes, that a great storm ensued and continued until he was moved back to his original grave among the common people, at which point, the sun came out.

In the UK we say that whatever weather we get on St Swithin's Day, we get for the next forty days. Looks like we are going to have a hot summer.

Llynn & Bella, would you like to take a bet?
For the first time temperatures of 40°C have been forecast in the UK and the Met Office has issued the first ever Red warning for exceptional heat.
Forty degrees Celsius equals one hundred and twelve degrees Fahrenheit. That is hot in anyone's language.
By the way Met Office is just an abbreviation for meteorological office.
