So where will you be?

What an ordeal this has been. I am at least glad to know progress is moving forward for you.

Where are we staying? Living in an Rv beside our garage.

Why does life have a way of getting more difficult? Sorry to hear this.

You figure by our age, life has done all it can. But every time you find the bottom, you hide a place farther down.

......as long as it doesn't lead to hell.......:ROFLMAO:

I think we finally got rid of the rats, however prior to their demise they got into the food pantry, chewed holes in our clothing, kept us awake at night and wreaked general havoc throughout the Rv. At first we tried to deter them by placing herbs, ammonia, Irish Spring soap, Cheyanne pepper and bay leaves in their path of destruction. Somewhat defeated, we had no choice but to kill them with tomcat bait & trap container.

We had to have Udig NYS remark the gas lines into the house for further demolition yesterday. Mornings we shovel snow and my wife fills hot water bottles and feeds two of our cats residing in the house. Leo is the only cat that stays in the Rv. with us.

I walked Eidie to the post office yesterday, it is the furthest I have walked her on a leash. Try to imagine mounds of snow pushed to the side of the road by heavy snow plows, freezing temperatures and a reluctant dog not yet trained to walk on a leash without a struggle. It was exhausting.

Now that the rat situation has passed I can't help but ask what is in store for us next? This journey if you can call it that has been one tragedy after another. We just want to have an uneventful normal life again and living in our home again. But that is not likely to happen until the house is fully restored and up to code, maybe before summer time. The town board issued an area variance permit for one year and if we are still living in the Rv by June we will need the approval and pay the cost for another permit.

We had to have a new well dug further from the house. This means a pipeline from the well to the house needs to be dug and laid before connecting to the house. The ground is frozen, oh well the house isn't ready yet anyway.

Actual work on the house did not begin until mid-January, we have been displaced since last May.

When I was in the hospital, the power went out in freezing weather, then pipes broke. - $15,000 in damages. It was sheer hell dealing with contractors and delays. My problems were nothing compared to yours. While I would never had done it, I did think of murdering my contractor. I feel so sorry for you. You are coping with this disaster remarkably well- way better than I could.

Did the insurance company even consider that your house was "totaled"? They could have settled for less than all the expense to "fix" it.?
