As far as I'm concerned, it doesn't matter to me what the guy was doing. He didn't have a gun in his hand, it was a cell phone. He was an old dude. In the video, he's clearly talking to the cop, not being overtly threatening. Even if he was slinging epithets, cursing the officer, whatever, there is still no excuse for the callous and cruel treatment of the man. After he was knocked down, THEY KEPT ON GOING! One officer even tried to help the gentleman and was unceremoniously shoved out of the way. A bystander tried to help, and was held back. He was just LEFT there!!!! That's the part that sticks with me the most. He was just left there, bleeding from his ear, his cell phone falling from his hand, his other hand sort of flopping around. It was so, so sad.

Sorry, Gaer, but that kind of statement means absolutely nothing, and sounds a bit smug and self-serving. What are you saying? That people who are against police brutality are not in favor of law enforcement?
What is law enforcement, anyway? Does it mean that the police are entitled to do anything they feel like doing, including murdering people who are posing no threat? Are they entitled to make up their own rules? When they see brutality inflicted on the public by their buddies in the force, are they supposed to do nothing to stop it?
What law was Floyd violating by sitting in his car? And what law was Gugino, the man in Buffalo, violating by marching in a peaceful protest? Any justification for police brutality against citizens in those situations amounts to fascism, plain and simple.
Exactly what is it that you are standing behind? I'd be curious to know.

A medic was called for immediately; a Nat'l Guardsman medic in camo rushed to the man's side. He wasn't just left there.
The man should not have been harmed, I agree. I don't think the officer realized his shove would actually knock the guy over. The police had their mission; to clear the way. You don't run up to a cop who is advancing. Who knows what this man intended? The cop didn't know.
I respectfully disagree. No person in their 70's, should be shoved for any reason. There is ZERO need for that. Totally unacceptable.
Agility, strength, balance... a good number of people in their 70's, have a reduced level of all three, so it's troubling to me to know there are cops on the street that lack the basic capacity to compute such and judge themselves accordingly.
IMO, the cops actions were nothing more than bullying to relay to all around him what a hero he was, and all at the expense of a frail man.

Completely irrelevant and diversionary. Looters are criminals. We expect criminal behavior from criminals. We don't expect criminal behavior from police officers. And (of course) like any criminal, we don't want them to get away with it - like they do.
