Gadgets-tell us about your useful ones.

I'm a traditionalist through and through, so all of the newfangled gadgetry advertised on TV that stirs, blends, shakes, mixes, chops, cuts, slices, dices, and who knows what else, you'll find none of that in my kitchen.

Aside from a blender, food-processor, mixer, and immersion hand-blender, I prepare all meals using nothing more than a quality set of knives, along with a large and heavy wooden cutting-board.

When it comes to cooking from scratch, I enjoy the concoction and burst of all the different fragrances and aromas that treat my senses as I cut, slice, and chop by-hand... you just don't get that when you toss things into a processor or other fancy-schmancy gizmo, so for me my most useful kitchen things are my quality set of knives and large wooden cutting-board.

My old jar opener tops the list.

Fire Stick. It more or less handles all my smart T.V. viewing. When I watch is that is. I also have remotes for the ceiling fans and the lights in the house. I love all kinds of gadgets. Plus I control my heating and A/C from my smart phone. I've always like being able to start my car from the house in the days when I drove.

If I had to choose one, it would be that little rubber thingie that I use to open jars, bottle tops, etc. What is it called, anyway? Jar opener? Gripper pad? Without it, I'd be pretty helpless.

I'm also very fond of my electric corkscrew for opening wine bottles. Just pushing a button is certainly a lot easier than manipulating a regular corkscrew.
