Gay Pride Month... Part 2

First off I said .... "nuff said for now"

And why does a thread need to be positive ? Shouldn't a thread in an open forum be instead "discussed" as the forum name implies ?

If any topic is going to "discussed" then there are of course going to be positive & negative points about it.

Agree completely. I'm not gay either, but have had some very good friends and coworkers over the years who were/are gay, wonderful people and I was blessed to have them in my life.

Many people still are intolerant, hateful and homophobic, that is who they are. We are all people who are alike in many ways, very sad that we can't respect each other despite our differences. Personally, I'd rather be like a kind and compassionate gay person, than an angry selfish hater.

It's encouraging to see Christians quote New Testament passages that reflect the love of God as taught by Jesus, rather than Old Testament quotes that support hate and condemnation.
 
You may wonder why I said I miss the seventies when that is when discrimination of gays was high. However, it was about fairness, tolerance, compassion, and we fought for those things.
There was a piece in the Maude episode about immigration also and of course the seventies were about feminism and civil rights.
It was a massive time of change.
I'm sorry, but don't see things have improved much in this age. Its a screwed up world. I think many people from all walks of life would agree with me. Even the ones we fought with and for. I don't like the way things turned out.

Well, if in here you are referring too me ? And it seems you may be, I am neither angry or selfish. I just do not agree with , nor support the queer lifestyle.

Again, if you are referring too me and it seems you are, then it also seems you enjoy calling me names , and placing labels on me ...... which says more about you, than I.

But hey, if that is your way ? By all means enjoy yourself.

You made your stance clear, nobody is pushing you to support or engage in a queer lifestyle. That is why when the video was posted, the user said to feel free to move on if not interested. If you want to take this personally so you can pick a fight, not taking your bait.

That conflicts with 1John3. I prefer the 1John3

I could be wrong in my interpretation of Cornhuskers post as him still believing biblical passages are to be used to Condemn Homosexuality.

I guess because the new one references the old one a lot, so needed for historical context - but is interesting how people cherry pick bits out of OT without considering how Jesus reacted to them.

or really how people cherry pick any bits to suit their agenda

But I am interested, interested in voicing my opinion, just like everyone else. Only my opinion doesn't parrot some of the others here.

And I again am not "picking a fight" just voicing my opinion ..... apparently you do not agree with me, fine. Why can't you give me the same courtesy ?

I cast no bait , if you took it that way ? .... that's on you.

We really don't know how Jesus would react. I'm going to guess Jesus would favor Pride. I base that on the stories of Jesus, an unmarried single man keeping 12 men as close friends.

OK, I was only and am only trying to have a discussion/conversation about a topic raised. But it seems ? many here such as yourself just do not want to have it, as long as my opinion differs from theirs / yours.

So name calling, snide remarks etc. Seem to prevail.

Now, if you like we can go on like this forever , however my opinion will not change, nor will I be silenced .
 
In principle, and believing in the equality of the diverse nature of humans, gay rights and acceptance certainly have my support.

That said, a Gay Pride month goes right over my head. I don't know why a designated month is useful. I also think that society can never be truly equal.

I'd be interested to know what a Gay Pride Month has achieved, what progress it has brought about. What advances has it helped make? A serious question.

As for the talk of Jesus, etc. I'm not getting it. I think it's clear what Christianity feels about gays. Whilst I'm not a christian as such, I can understand their stance and why they feel as they do. You won't change their mind, and it seems silly to try. There are societal standards, and it's not a free-for-all. Christians are entitled to feel as they do as well.

Bottom line - when it comes to legal aspects, we should strive for equality. Societal wise, we can never have that.

' Christianity' is many people - they don't all feel the same. They don't have ' a stance'

The talk of Jesus, in my post was replying to poster who asked why people keep the OT.

I don't think Gay Pride Month has achieved something, it is more about celebrating achievements made thus far.
But also awareness is an ongoing thing.

Please note that I made the emphasis on Islamists, not Muslims or Islamic people.
One of my work mates is quite a devout Indian Muslim, he's a good bloke and fun to go for a drink with!
