Geezer fight!! LOL

About 35 years ago, I knew a couple of old guys who were best buddies (Art 79 and Herman 81) until they both started courting a young 78 year old chick in their apartment building. After that, it was open warfare with fistfights in the hall and tossing lit firecrackers at the other guy while he was sunbathing on the patio.

They never did make up, and the "young chick" noted their behavior and didn't want anything to do with either one of them. It would be funny if it were not so sad, nobody won anything.

There is "no fool like an old fool."

Bad enough that the guys are doing this, but I'm still freaked out that a woman on my street, at least 50 years old, got into a violent altercation with another woman right out in her front yard- slapping, hair pulling, scratching and punching. I see on TV that teen-aged girls get into physical fights, but I guess I didn't expect it of a grandmother.

I grew up in an era when girls and women simply didn't do that. Maybe my views are dated, but women fighting in the streets really upsets me. I hate to see anyone fighting, but somehow this seems worse to me.

I still recall the very first altercation I witnessed between two middle-aged women.

It was the mirror of what you describe... hair-pulling, slapping, punching, scratching, and biting. Shameful.

The only altercation that I witnessed...A friend from High School and another friend decided to go to the park, even putting
out the event....So I went with my cousin....Our friend didn't even know how to fight...The other girl whipped her good....
That was High School....I think the girl that won is dead now and the other girl is alive...living alone, cause her husband
divorced her...Haven't seen her since her wedding, a very long time...Girl's are funny fighters...

I once knew a woman who told me that her mother "won" her father, after a physical fight with another woman he was "seeing". He was caught in the act, and the woman was dressed in a full slip. There was hair-pulling and punching. He stood back and watched, apparently enjoying it.

If I were her, I wouldn't be telling anyone about it .. and if I were her mother, I definitely would have just walked away. Oh, maybe I would have punched him out first.

Years ago when I was looking into assisted living facilities for my uncle, I talked to the director at a very nice large one.

She said that they would love to have my handsome, extremely sociable uncle there. She said that they were happy to get more gentlemen even though it took about three weeks for everyone to settle down after a new one comes. She told me that the last time a "live" one moved it, there was hair pulling and slaps exchanged between a few of the women who were "in competition" for him. There was also some "chest-thumping" on the part of the gentlemen already there now that there was a new rooster in the henyard. The average ratio of women-to-men in those facilities is around 75-25.

The most foolish person is the peacemaker. Combatants don't really appreciate their help and the good samaritan often gets injured, as apparently happened here.

When dad was a young boy, his dad was inadvertently killed when playing peacemaker, leaving behind a migrant widow and five kids.

Ain't worth it.
