Gentle posts for gentle folks

Hello, friends!☺️

It's March first!🥳🥳🥳🥳

Im psyched. 😊😁
Wow.
We've made it to March.

It isn't springtime hereabouts, but April usually follows March. 😉

Dear husband didn't have his best couple of days, and my anxiety was high. (Partly directly and partly due to other stresses)😵‍💫🙄🫤

But we're both having a better day today.
Whew.

I'm thinking of all of you, and hoping you are each finding something good in your day!

Good Afternoon, Kaila and Friends. 🤗 :coffee: 🌷

So, I've moved away from the creepy podcasts in favor of a new one I've discovered. Anyone remember the show, Dragnet? I loved that show when I was little and it was in reruns.

Well, it turns out that Dragnet was a radio show first, actually starring Jack Webb, the actor who stars as Joe Friday in the TV series. He is the creator of the radio show, as it happens. Anyway, I found a podcast series that is a compilation of the Dragnet radio show episodes and I'm hooked.

I found one for the show, Gunsmoke too, which I also did not realize was a radio show and listened to the first episode. It was good too, but I'm just so into Dragnet right now.

So, husband is home in a couple hours and we'll watch hockey. There's a lot of hockey to watch right now because the NHL is playing catchup.

I had a phone call from boyfriend this morning and that was really nice; good to hear his voice. He'll be back on Tuesday, which is also the day we are planning our make-up Mardi Gras. c4a7a0b6e35ef8e46714b4774be2c767.jpg It's really just going to be a wicked carb fest. Which, you know, woot. ;)

@Kaila, sorry about the anxiety levels; I know how difficult that can be. Glad to hear you and husband are having a better day, though. 🤗

@CallMeKate, how are you feeling today, girl?

Wishing everyone on this wonderful thread a super nice Sunday. 🥕🥕🥕

Dropped in to see a neighbour who had a stroke a few months ago. She’s in a care home. One side is immobile. Fortunately it didn’t affect her brain or speech. She said she’s lonely because nobody comes any more. Her husband and daughter are there every day. I’ll have to make more of an effort to stop in.

That's really kind of you, Jules.

Maddeningly there has been no improvement and I'm very tired of it. If the strain is mild, it will be 1-3 weeks, but today it doesn't feel very mild, so I'm thinking at least 3 weeks. I'm not so good with moving slowly and/or resting, so we'll see how that goes. But as Scarlett O'Hara says, tomorrow is another day. :giggle:

Well, damn. I'm sorry to hear that, Kate. :/

Thanks for this info. I’m addicted now too!

The sound isn’t the greatest. I can hear it better with earbuds. It’s just some of the characters that were a little harder to catch. I like that the episodes aren’t too long.

I typed in "Anxiety quotes" today. It helped a little. There are quotes available on any subject. A kitty just bumped my leg. Someone let him in although he is not really mine. That helped even more.

Do you think that alternating cold and heat, a few times daily, might possibly help it to heal any more quickly?
Or do you think it's only about having the time it requires?

Good morning, Kaila & Friends! Yeah, the recommendation was cold packs for the first 48 hours and then gentle heat after that. A heating pad helps for the time it's being applied, but then as soon as there's another twist or wrong movement, it's back to where it was. (and believe me, just about every movement is "wrong" with that kind of muscle strain.) I'm just going to have to wait it out, and I'm prepared for that. Not happy, but prepared. 🤷‍♀️

Have a fabulous Monday, everyone!

Good morning @Kaila and co. Hope you will soon heal @CallMeKate - not nice having any muscle strain. 🤗 I did some sanding down of the gloss paint around the hall door on Friday, there's not a lot to sand but it was enough to make my shoulder sore so I gave up and had a lazy weekend instead. Youngest son said he'll come round and do it. It is so frustrating though to have to rely on others!
Oh well, c'est la vie.

I really must text my hairdresser to come and give me a trim. My fringe is almost covering my eyes, I'm like a shaggy dog. lol

Hope you @Kaila and your husband are feeling a lot brighter today and your anxiety has eased somewhat. 🫂

Love to all on this lovely thread. 🥕🥕

Good Afternoon, Kaila and Friends. 🤗 :coffee: 🌷

The good news is that it's going to warm up quite a bit, further in the week. :) We'll have to endure a couple cold days beforehand, but hey, the warm up this early in March is worth a couple cold days.

It's a normal day for me; husband is off and napping just now and I am watching a show and catching up here. I've done my "things" and just need to walk Lucius again in about 45 mins.

Boyfriend is back tomorrow. Woot! :)

@Jules, I'm so glad you're enjoying it too! :) The episodes are pretty engaging and I agree about the length. I've noticed that about the sound though I haven't had too much trouble as I've been listening on large, ear covering headphones. There was one this morning though that I just had to skip because of sound quality. Bummer because, from what I gleaned, it was a good one, but oh, well. 🤷‍♀️

@Babs2u, I'm glad the kitty and the quotes (I like those too) are helping a bit. Anxiety sucks. :/

@CallMeKate, bummer about your impending long recovery time. Muscle strain is so difficult because it impedes just about everything. Look who I'm telling. Sorry for you, girl. 😕

@Pam, sounds like your lazy weekend was the wise choice. I love how your people take such good care of you. You have a lovely family. ❤️

Wishing everyone here a pleasant Monday afternoon. 🥕🥕🥕

Hello, all.
It's good to read your posts and updates.:)

I'm feeling poorly, due at least in part, from doing too much, and not sleeping enough.:(

I hope I'll sleep more and better, tonight, and feel less miserable, tomorrow.
I'm not looking forward to the snow forecast for tomorrow, and mixed precipitation, with cold rains, possibly on Wednesday.🙄😵‍💫

I have an appointment on Wednesday, that I don't want to miss.🫤

On the plus side, I'm thinking of each one of you.
☺️🤩🥰

Good morning all from a bright and sunny corner of north west England. I've got the windows and back door open to let some fresh air blow through. Rocco not due here for another couple of hours so I've done some dusting and put some washing on. Now I can spend a bit of time browsing this forum. Ooops... change that. Just had a text asking if I can have him in 20 minutes time. At least I got some jobs done first. My browsing will be cut short a little bit and I'll go close the back door now otherwise he'll be straight out there barking at nothing. 😆

I do hope you slept better last night @Kaila and are feeling a lot brighter. 🤗Fingers crossed your appointment with the doctor goes well.

It is very frustrating isn't it @CallMeKate when you have no choice but to take it easy?

Well, this morning has been a success with Rocco. He walked to park perfectly, no stopping and sitting down half way. He definitely prefers the nicer weather. Can't say I blame him! Here's a few photos, including one of him admiring the crocuses. Sorry, not very clear pic of them but they were very pretty.

Good Afternoon, Kaila and Friends. 🤗 :coffee: 🌷

It is our Mardi Gras make-up celebration day, which basically amounts to a day of debauched carb consumption. I made banana chocolate chip pancakes and some brownies this morning, we have Bavarian Cream donuts, and husband is making spaghetti and garlic bread later. It's entirely possible I'll pass out at some point. 🤣 We're planning on playing some cards later if everyone is up for it.

Boyfriend's back (heyla, heyla!) and I am hanging out with him. Husband is napping just now and we'll watch some --wait do we have a hockey game to watch tonight?... Anyway, all is as it should be in my world again. 🥰

@Kaila, hoping you were able to get a little better sleep last night. It's supposed to warm up significantly here tomorrow and I'm hoping for a little of that for your area so you can make your appointment.

@Pam, those pictures are wonderful; spring really is exploding in your area. Rocco is such a handsome boy. 🐩

Thinking of you and your recovery, @CallMeKate. 🤗

Wishing everyone a pleasant Tuesday afternoon. Let's have coffee. 🥕🥕🥕

What? You think that Rocco barks at nothing?
It's clear that he is barking at something very real, that you simply cannot see or be aware of.
:ROFLMAO::sneaky:😄

Thank you, Pam,
and others here on this thread, for the well hopes for me.☺️

And hello and thank you, for those posts,
@CallMeKate
And @Medusa
And all others here, reading here. :giggle:

I did get some better sleep, last night, but was very sleepy this morning.🙄
Still, I did perk up after a while, and then, was thankful for that sleep.

Especially when our day held an unexpected stress. The medical supply provider could not fill our order like they usually do easily and promptly,
because of some confusing new rules.😲😬😵‍💫😵

I needed to sort out the details, and then call his dr office, and explain it to them. They said they will let us know, what the next step is...... so that issue was tabled, for today.😕

Meanwhile, it is snowing out. Sheesh.😳😱
Our endless winter.
Well, seemingly endless, but dh says Spring will come.
He's a hopeless optimist. 😏😁🥰😆

The appointment that I have tomorrow, is mid-day, so I hope it will have cleared up by then.

This one is Not with the meds dr, but rather, my physical therapist is going to meet me at a different location nearby, where they have a small, therapy pool!
This was a goal, for several months, and I am happy to try it. I like the water.

Neither she nor I can predict how it will go. But I am excited to try it. 😀
