I didn't know!!!

One of my clients used to work in the White House as Personal Assistant to the Cheneys. She's well connected politically, her Dad used to be a US Ambassador to Britain, other political connections with extended family. Bush Senior is her first daughter's Godfather, Bush junior is her second daughter's Godfather. There are some lovely candid photos around her house with her and her kids with the two Bush men over the years. Mrs. Cheney has stayed at her house a time or two when she was on a book tour. She loved the family. She is devastated by this news I'm sure. I'm off to write her a condolence letter. How very sad. :(

President George HW Bush has died

I just heard on the news, former President,George HW Bush died last night at age of 94.
This was a blessing considering he had spent a few times in the hospital this yr.
In my opinion,he never recovered from the loss of his beloved wife,Barbara who died in April,he is now reunited with her
R.I.P you'll be missed Sue

This brought me such comfort this morning. I had the opportunity to talk with my grandpa about the afterlife. This is what he said: He answered without any hesitation. “Yes, I think about it. I used to be afraid. I used to be scared of dying. I used to worry about death. But now in some ways I look forward to it.” And I started crying. I managed to choke out, “Well, why? What do you look forward to?” And he said, “Well, when I die, I’m going to be reunited with these people that I’ve lost.” And I asked who he hoped to see. He replied, I hope I see Robin, and I hope I see my mom. I haven’t yet figured it out if it will be Robin as the three year old that she was, this kind of chubby, vivacious child or if she’ll come as a middle-aged woman, an older woman. And then he said, “I hope she’s the three-year-old.” Robin was the daughter this giant of a man lost years before to leukemia. The little girl he held tightly: who spoke the phrase I have heard Gampy repeat for my entire life, forever knitting Robin’s voice into the tightly woven fabric of our family: “I love you more than tongue can tell.”

Upon moving to Kennebunk in 1990, we developed a number of friends and neighbors who had known him since he was a child. To a person, they all thought very highly of him. Truly a good person.

Rest in peace, Mr. President.

I recommend you read Presidential historian,Jon Meacham's' book about him:"American Odessy of President George H.W.Bush' which was published a couple years ago.
I found it interesting Sue

My niece grew up in Greenwich Conn. Where Bush Sr. was born. She shared this story on FB, and I asked if I could share. She also shared a picture of her parents meeting him. Yep..that is my brother who I mentioned in another thread has just turned 80. My nieces mom is now brothers ex. Long story. Anyway......

George H.W. Bush is from my hometown. Our house was an old indoor tennis court that my Dad mad into a house/garage for his cars. When Mr. Bush was running for President my parents met him. Turns out he used to play tennis in our house in his younger years! The class of 1984 at Greenwich High School had HIM as a speaker! I was class of 85, we got Steve Young from the 49ers (at the time he was in the Canadian Football League.). Thoughts to the Bush family who will be going through the first holiday season without BOTH of their parents. Rest In Peace Mr Bush, and thank you for your service to our great country

Services set for Wednesday...

Former President George H.W. Bush will be eulogized by his son, former President George W. Bush, along with a mix of family and friends on Wednesday at the Washington National Cathedral, the most high-profile event in a week of proceedings that will remember the remarkable life of the president who died on Friday at 94.

Watching his arrival in DC right now. Hail to Chief now being played. Then a 21 gun salute. His service dog, Sully will be transferred to another Vet in need.

I didn't realize there would be a ceremony today. Very touching as they brought the casket into the Rotunda.
