Germany having second thoughts

The U.S. will be taking in at least 10,000 Syrian refugees, I heard on the news tonight. The U.S. is on track to resettle another 1500 by the end of September.
 

What became of those reports back a decade ago or more, of vicious Vietnamese street gangs having been formed? imp
 
Reality, not emotion. It's real easy to get caught up in the wave or follow the politically correct pack. But in REALITY the causes in Syria need to be addressed. Syria needs to be taken to task for this. As do many of the countries in the area/neighbors not doing as much as nations hundreds of miles away.

Its not the People, Tom, it the religious crap they bring with them that makes them unfavorable.

This news today.....75% of those people are males, why is that????

That's right. The culture and religion is different along with being on record as having declared a 'war' on the US & the west. A lot of refugees past didn't come to the US or west coming a place or culture with an active declaration of 'war' or jihad against the US. Asymmetrical and/or religious wars are not like the geographic political wars most are used to.
 
Canada certainly hasn't recovered from the hordes of vicious draft dodgers/deserters from the lovely Vietnam War, that still menace defenceless Canadians to this day. Eek! I am quaking in my new red silk heels.

It was rather nice that those draft dodgers were encouraged to stay in Canada rather than come back and face possible trials or whatever. Since then the US has proven they have enough folks willing to volunteer for service and the draft was no longer needed. So it is good that Canada was able to shelter the cowards. Keep them forever.
 
I really wish some of our most notorious draft dodgers left... Mitt Romney.... and The Donald.. but they were rich.. one went to hide out in France.. the other got 5 deferments.

I agree with that. The real solution is to give them a reason not to flee. How many people really want to leave the culture they grew up in, if it weren't for fear of their lives and their children's future?

And far too much of that was going on during the draft days. It seems that more than just the rich could pull that trick just by going to college and asking for a deferment. I guess those could be called rich, but not many of the wealth of some who had wealthy fathers like the two you mentioned.

In a lot of cases in self contained conflict I can see the outside world not wanting to get involved or stay out. But by all of those refugees spilling out on to the rest of the world this is basically a great case for intervention because the their war has now affected the outside world.
 
Bob, Cowards? Nineteen year old children? For not wanting to die in an unwinnable war, perpetuated by rich old men? Do you not recall amnesty for draft dodgers given by the American gov't? The draft is a whole different ball game than a volunteer force. Perhaps you should study your own history.

Its easy to want to stay uninvolved, viewing this crisis from safe perches and attitudes of fear and suspicion. But if one can place oneself into the shoes of a refugee and imagine one's family's and one's own life threatened by invading armies, leaving everything one owned and homeland and fleeing to a strange and perhaps hostile place, one might be inclined to offer assistance.

Yes, cowards. All of them that fled to other countries. For the few hundreds that did so, there were thousands more that did answer the call by answering the draft or volunteering. My two brothers and myself among those that did service prior to the draft being ended. My older brother joined army for 3 years but did near 5 due to extensions for the Korean war.

I enlisted and also got drafted. Such a mess. I was already in a army base when the draft decided to draft me. My younger brother was also active when it was his turn. Both my son and daughter, through college, but still enlisted for service. This is what is considered to be active and willing to help defend this country in good or bad times. Those that only want to live here when it is not expected of them to do their part to retain our freedoms, are cowards.

Nineteen year old's are not children in any way or form. They can drive at 16, get married at various ages depending on the states guidelines, get jobs at less than 19, volunteer for military at 18, there is only one way 19 year old's are children and that is sometimes true by their mentality.

My whole thing is with obvious proof, no shakey photos or debatable wmd reports etc this is a perfect case for INtervention IN Syria itself with the UN, US, NATO etc as peace keepers.
 
​I agree. Isn't this about the same thing as the Nazis killing Jews and forcing them to leave their homes? Why don't the world governments stop it?
