Germany: Sharia Law Patrol or 'Police' Win Court Decision

A group of Muslims walking around or "patrolling" a German town as the Sharia Police telling people not to do things like drink or gamble won a decision/won't be prosecuted for now. Town upset. Prosecutors will appeal decision.

On one hand I see it as a form of protest but on the other the word "police" on their "uniform" shouldn't be allowed. Also how forceful are they telling people not to do things.

I think this is crazy. When you are in whatever country you obey THEIR laws -- you don't get to make up your own --I don't care who you are. You also don't get to declare that you have some sort of control over an area in another country. And it's nuts to let them wear "police" on their clothing. Here, that would be called impersonating a police officer, and it's illegal.

Exactly! This all goes back to these immigrants being a guest for starters. That and things like assimilation. If they don't like certain activities or customs fine protest them individually. By putting 'police' on their 'uniform' it's not 'a' protest but a message.

Migrants should be adapting to their host country, not the other way around. Also when schools have to tell girls to wear longer skirts as to not offend or excite Muslim men what the heck is that. They should be showing the same restraint and acceptance as they want from the host country.

Guests in a country need to conform to the culture in the country they are in, not the other way round.

We were stationed in Germany for 9+ years and one of the first things that happens when new personnel enter a country is a class about respecting local customs and not upsetting the Germans or getting into trouble -- mostly small stuff like not violating their quiet times, dressing respectfully when visiting historical sites, particularly cathedrals and such, and what to expect/not expect when shopping/travelling, etc. BUT the message was very clear that we were in THEIR country and to respect and observe local laws and customs.

I do not see why the refugees should expect any different, or why the Germans should be expected to change their lives to accommodate Sharia law or customs.

Now it starts to make sense to me.

One of the recruiters of young Australians for jihad used to make contact with them by means of street preaching.
He came across as just another street evangelist but was seeking out impressionable young men for his cause.

I think he's dead now, courtesy of a well aimed missile in Syria.

The Sharia Police stunt could have had the same purpose.

In some respects it's no different than the Jehovah's Witness passing out literature in public places. One could say the orange vest is like the white worn by others. But using a vest frequently worn by emergency workers is a bit close to impersonating an 'official'. It's a message "we here to stay" and it does test the waters so to speak probably getting 'inquiries' or recruits.

Recruiters try every trick in the book to get at the young.

I remember my daughter asking to go to a dance in our suburb, supposedly put on by Rotary. It was all a bit vague.

When I drove her down there I was suspicious of the set up and went inside with her to eyeball the situation.
It turned out to be organised by the Young Communist League and they were actively engaging the kids in conversation around the hall.

I let her stay for the disco but came back early to collect her and we talked about the organisers and their motives.

For whatever reason, it should not be tolerated. People do NOT have the right to hold themselves out in any way as officials/police/whatever in another country or try to enforce another country's laws, etc. EVER! You don't get to set up a country within a country, which is what this sounds like. Basic law is that you are subject to the laws of whatever country you are in (unless you are an ambassador or his staff). PERIOD!

These guys are no more than street gangs trying to impose their will on others. If it is allowed to continue, the refugees will be back with what they worked so hard to escape -- Sharia law.

...escape Sharia law.

And this is what many don't understand. With much of radical Islam comes Sharia law, it's part of the package. Although many laws are based a religious belief some say Sharia is as much a political system as it is a code to live by.
