This sinus neurological illness has gone on for 3 months. I am loosing patience. I can see no end in sight and I am becoming very doubtful that this will end. I don't know what to do...the suffering is constant except when I am able to sleep, 2 hours at a time. I wanted to let you all now because I am having difficulty communicating. I am all mixed up.

I'm so sorry that you're suffering @Paco Dennis. I wish I could do something to help you. I assume you've been to a doctor. Maybe seeing a specialist an ENT (Ear Nose and Throat) physician would help, or an allergist. From what I've read in another thread, you've tried a number of things to alleviate your problem but none has worked. Please try a specialist if you haven't. I don't know what else to suggest. 😘

Yes. He prescribed Prednisone. Didn't work. Called the pharmacist and tried Clariton and Flonaise. Didn't work. I got some Xlear with Xylitol...it is working a little. My palms are sweating, and I am having a very unsettled stomach. I feel ok for a hour or so, and then another wave starts. I will go to a quick care clinic this weekend if it gets worse. Thank you !!

Misa and I have been trying to figure out what kind of specialist to go to. ENT Doc will prescribe Amoxicillin probably. I tried that a few years back and it didn't work. I think we are going to try a neurologist...I might have Serotonin syndrome. Thank you!

@Paco Dennis, I am so sorry you are in such pain.🤗

Serotonin syndrome is a very serious condition, as your body keeps building up and storing medications you have been on, this could happen as a result of slow metabolism, underactive thyroid,
Have you had this checked out via pathology, a doctor, and a thyroid CT scan?

I would try to get a referral to an Otolaryngologist as sinus is part of their specialty.

You said you were prescribed Prednisone was this prescribed in addition to antibiotics?
Sending you hugs and white healing energy.

@Tish

SS is a serious condition. I got a Medical Marijuana card 2 years ago because I suffer from IBS. I use to mix it with cbd...but it wasn't working so I started just smoking the THC. Plus my doctor put me on an anti-depressant 15 years ago. The normal dose is 20mg, he has had me on 40mgs for about 10 years. That is too much, but it is really difficult to drop that medication down. I think that amount plus the Marijuana has put the Serotonin at too high a level. I quit smoking THC or CBD 2 days go, and it will be a while before I try it again. Thanks for the timely information, and I will check out an Otolaryngologist. No...the Prednisone was just a few weeks ago. No antibiotic yet. Thank You!!!

Very sorry your difficulties have been so relentless, Dennis.
It takes so much of the joys out of daily life.
Hang in there, and I hope you find some helpful doctor, very soon.

I had a thought....trigeminal neuralgia possible?

If there's any chance of SS, then wouldn't your doctor agree to lower the anti-depr. script dosage?

I have no good advice, but that sounds terrible and I feel for you. Causing you to get little sleep, I can see where you're becoming all mixed up. I really hope you can get some answers and relief very soon. Thinking of you...hugs.

I looked it up. I do have some teeth that are loose and hurt some, so it is possible. Probably a neurologist could diagnose that.

When/if this calms down I am thinking seriously of tapering down on the ssri. Thank you!
You are welcome, and I wanted to add, that I am very glad you posted this thread, and did let us know how you are doing.
I had missed you and wondered how you are, and had been hoping for the best for you and Misa.

It's possible that this problem is due to teeth that need to be taken care of .. as previously stated by someone. A dental appointment for x-rays, etc. is a good idea in any case.

We are thinking about doing that Pinky. There has been slight relief today. I slept 4 hours. It is still a moment to moment journey...I have made it through worse, so I believe I will get past this. Thank You!

I hope you said yes, and took the appointment anyway,
even though that is very disappointing, especially once you'd finally made that confusing decision and taken that action on it!

In the meantime, could you use the time between now and then, to get a dentist's opinions or some actual dental work, to clear up some of those possible additionally confusing factors?
(Partly so the neuro doesn't say; See a dentist and then, if you still have the problem, come back.)

And it might also, in the meantime, be worth re-trying one script of that amoxicillin, just in case, it might help this time even though it didn't the previous time you tried it long ago. Any possible infection that it might address, would be making the pain worse, even if it isn't the only factor. I would think most any doctor would let you try one week of that, for sinus or other, I would guess.

These are just my thoughts. Of course I don't know what's best for you!

Part of my thinking is that any of those might help lower the pain,
and in addition, would be doubly valuable, because:
whether it did or not, knowing those results beforehand, might help you to get the most out of the neuro appointment, to have investigated those with those specialists, so the neuro will be more apt to give a better and clearer view.?

Wow. That is the line of thinking I was pondering today. :) I am going to get my teeth checked and we have to decide on the antibiotic....i am on Keto..it could mess with the IBS I have...but we will consider it seriously... Thanks!!!
