Ghosts and the Paranormal

I agree with that last sentence,Uptosnuff. Our minds are just too complex to simply cease to exist when the body dies. Another thing to consider is, how different everyone's life is. Some people seem to have it all, money, love, everything they do is a success. Others have it much tougher. It seems very unfair unless you believe that we all live several lives, each one has a different purpose. Some people have a common theme running through all their lives. For instance, some enjoy fighting and always incarnate at a time of conflict...others choose to be born at a time when new discoveries are being made and they can be part of it...and so on.
 

From cradle to grave, our life is influenced by a whole series of random and totally unpredictable events. How we handle them shapes the way we live. We have one life and when we're dead, we're dead. End of story. Well, that's what I believe.

I don't believe in ghosts.

Those of you who do, can you tell me if ghosts wear clothes, and if so were do the clothes come from?

As a Christian I believe in an afterlife, but have no idea what a soul would look like.

One reason I feel this way is my experience with the Ouija board. To make a very long story shorter, I have a brother that is about a year younger than me and we have always been very close. One of us got the Ouija board for Christmas one year when we were in high school. We thought it was cool and started playing with it. We didn't know what we were doing, took no precautions, nothing. When I tried it with other people, it pretty much did nothing. When I used it with my brother, the planchette would just take off spelling words and even sentences. It would answer every one of our questions. People would blindfold us, put their hands over our eyes and it would still move just the same. "Something" was moving that planchette. It was not us. After a while it creeped me out so much I wouldn't play with it anymore. I rarely try it, but on the occasions I do, at least now I take some precautions.

I don't think that when we die, this is just it. We will move on to something or somewhere else. Our time here on earth is just a step in the journey.

I certainly agree that our soul/spirit continues to exist after the physical body has died.. At the risk of being being called eccentric, which is okay with me because I have researched and interviewed persons other than myself that have had contact with a person that has passed. Almost every experience was from a person they were very close to. I did not see this person, but could feel their presence and commucation was telepatic and only lasted a few seconds, I immediately knew who it was and called them by name. Persons who have more knowledge on this subject than me simply said the contact was just to let me know they were okay. Most who have had this happen to them never talk about, I know I didn't until I started asking others. I never tried to make contact again, but have been invited to "spiritual camps" to try. That defintely is of no interest to me..
 
I was afraid of that s.o.b. Surely fying around in that Piper Cub you have seen a ghost or...:drinking:

Could be, we will never know for sure until the last bit of electricity has exited our body and the spirit/soul has moved on. Having been with some who have passed, when they take that last deep breath, then there is nothing. It leaves an empty feeling and you just wish they will receive ever lasting life as indicated in the Bible.
 
I like the phrase "soul sleep", where did you read about that?

Sorry about the use of (SEEN) English has aways been my bag, but father time is taking its toll on my written words, would you believe I now type with one finger. That is okay with me because my next stop is ....well never mind.... I was just kidding about the Piper Cub as I read your profile.
Did you know I was a pilot, I was out of work and went to the unemployment office to apply for benefits. They ask me about my experience and I told them, " I am a pilot". She said, well tell me about your experience as a pilot. I said, "Well my friend here cuts the fire wood up and I pilot. lol..:drinking:

Isn't it just like us women to wonder where ghosts get their clothes :rofl:. I personally have never experienced a ghost nor the paranormal. But I don't pass judgement on those who have. I believe most are genuine when sharing their experience.

Regarding what souls would look like, I don't believe you can see souls in this life or beyond. It's like love. You know its there but you can't see it. You can see the results of it though. After death our souls will live on. "It is written" that our physical bodies will die...but beyond we'll receive new bodies. Thank God...:)

My sister and I had a wonderful experience with James Van Praagh,and my cousins had an experience with Jean Dixon. These experiences leave me with no doubt that some people have the ability to see the future and in the case of James Van Praagh the ability to speak to the dead.

Although I believed they exist due to older family members' experiences, I never thought I'd be one to see a ghost. But one day I was primping in my bathroom mirror. Suddenly I saw a man who appeared to be short just staring at me. He was in the hallway that leads to our studio, the bathroom and the master bedroom. I surprised myself by not being frightened but I remained perfectly still and observed him via the mirror. He had tanned skin (like a light skinned black man or tanned white man), he had salt and pepper hair and wore a blue, black and white plaid shirt. He didn't really seem "transparent". After maybe a minute he seemed to float sideways into the studio room. Believe me, I questioned what I saw, but it was no fleeting glance and when I described it to friends (on separate occasions) they all agreed I gave too detailed a description for it not to have been real. I don't know who hi was or why he was there. I don't know if he was a "ghost" or a jinn. I never saw him again.

In another incident, I was talking to a co-worker friend who was standing by my office door when she suddenly acted startled. She said "Did you see that?!" I thought the pizza delivery man passing behind her was the reason. At that moment, our supervisor called her into another room. When she returned, I asked her why she got so startled. She said she saw a tall, white man wearing white robe-like attire standing by my office door. She said he was "my spirit". I asked her how she did she know it wasn't "her spirit". She said she knew her spirits. I had just come back from S.C. where I was trying to find out information about my biological grandfather whom I'm told was tall and looked like a white man. At this point I should add that there were three of us in our office who were quite psychic....me being one of them, she being the other. I wondered if that man could have been my grandfather.

And finally, I dated a Jamaican man for about 10 years. He used to ridicule people who believed in "duppies" (ghosts). We each moved on with our lives but remained friends. One day he called me sounding very concerned. He told me that he had gone into his 2 year old daughter's bedroom and saw an old lady sitting on the end of her bed. I told him that if she had wanted to harm his daughter she would have done so but I told him what I thought he should do about it. It seemed to comfort and satisfy him. He never called back so I assume he didn't see her again. He and his wife lived in a very old house in town. I have other stories (of real events) but I'll cut it for now.
 
It's interesting that the Christian church promotes a belief in an after-life, but balks at the mention of any proof...yet we are supposed to believe that Jesus died and then rose from the dead. It's all very confusing.
 
I once ask a Priest and the reply was, "blind faith" :yoda:

I'm glad to see that you're taking precautions now. Better late than never, I'd say. I gave up mine, I had a weird feeling shortly after I bought it.

Anyway, I feel bad for some of the YouTubers who don't take precautions and end up with dark entities. Worst some do extremely dangerous rituals just for content and that's so foolish.

The rule of thumbs for Ouija boards are: never play alone, always try to have another person with you; never play when under influences, drugs or alcohol; have 3 candles on level or above the tallest person on the session; and finally never ask for unknown entities to come and be over 18+

I know it's a game company that makes them, but they should put a warning for this to be used under supervision of an adult or straight out to be sold only to 18+.

I've seen too many ruin their lives... Stay safe!

i've been known to approach people looking at the boxes and say in a calm, firm (sort of my 'Mom' voice--which seems to work on most people) "That is NOT a toy." Yeah i get some looks like i'm a crazy---but some ask for more info and i provide it.

Like everything else used by diviners/psychics (from cards to rune stones to pendants and candles) they are tools but one must remember that the energy in the room will deeply influence the outcome. Even good energy if generated from a naïve person unschooled in occult practices and possibilities can be misused by entities (and/or living people) with ill intent.

My faith based reply is this:
@norman the correct answer is just "faith" which is more likely what the priest said...not "blind faith"...BIG difference.
Christians see proof everyday in multiple ways and using all our senses and our souls,
not scientific proof that can sometimes be flawed or guessed (theory).
