GM Heritage Center... Eye Candy for Car Buffs

And it's not open to the public because ... ?

Schmucks.

I've always liked GM products, much more than Fords or that MOPAR junk ... :playful:

And what's this Holden stuff? It's the second time this week I've seen discussions about this thing. It's a glorified extension of GM, right?

Not glorified Phil .... like you, I prefer GM stuff to Ford and Chrysler. I often say that repairing Fords paid for my boys to go to a private school. ;)

Government Motors is shutting down its Australian operation as of 2017. General Motors-Holden was the Australian division; they started (seriously) making cars here in 1948. The first one was a Holden and went by the imaginative model description, 48-215. It was a downsized Chevvy with a 215ci downsized Chevvy motor. They were rust buckets and handled like a bullock wagon but they were roomy and reasonably economical to run.

I believe it!

Ah, okay, thank you - I had never heard of a Holden before now (except of course Holden Caulfield from The Catcher in the Rye :D).

It strongly reminds me of the Checker cabs that were so popular in NYC years ago - big and roomy and strong as an ox, but not exactly luxury rides.
