Golf Course/ Cemetery Combination?

A very practical idea that will never come to pass. No tombstones, just flat markers along the side of the fairways, cremated remains in the bunkers. Good revenue for the course. Enviromentalists should welcome the idea. Soft organ music piped throughout the course to sooth jangled golfers & mourners nerves.

I can see it now----THE DONALD TRUMP MEMORIAL GOLF COURSE.

Ok, then, if your going to be like that........ why not just bury them atop high rise office towers for 'green space' and parkland/gardens, mini golf optional of course.

I don't think there are many real golfers on this forum, by real I mean playing at least four times a month and have a handicap.

(no, have not seen this. I live not far from a large city cemetery. A friend told me that some of the squirrels there are white. No kidding!)

Forest Lawn Cemetery, Glendale, California

I had read about a cemetery in California in a book by Aldous Huxley, After Many A Summer Dies The Swan. When I moved here in 1988 my wife and I visited Forest Lawn in Glendale, a short drive from my home. We were impressed with what we saw. It is a large, grassy park but we noticed it didn't have something that marks most cemeteries: tombstones. It does have mausoleums, statues, small chapels and a museum but basically, if you are laid to rest there, you get a brass plaque that lies on top of your grave. There is a good view of the San Gabriel Mountains from almost any place in the park. It is a very restful place which the founder it to be "not the end of a life, but the beginning".

Yes, there are three Forest Lawn cemeteries in Southern California. Many Hollywood stars are buried in Hollywood Hills; some in Glendale. Here are some of those buried in Glendale: George Murphy, Humphrey Bogart, Walt Disney, Jimmy Stewart, Clark Gable, Sammy Davis Jr, Alan Ladd, Jean Harlowe, Nat King Cole, Errol Flynn.

I was born in 1931 and I'm showing some of the signs of old age. My wife of 20 years was entombed in Forest Lawn Glendale in December of 2008. She's in one of the wall crypts at the Dawn of Tomorrow location. I'm glad of that because it's not as depressing as traditional cemeteries. I plan to be alongside her when the time comes.

Lon, I read your suggestion to my brother and it's an understatement to say he reacted with enthusiasm! He'll be your first investor!
