Good documentary on Netflix

There's a new documentary which is fascinating, so far (I've only watched the first episode): Our Great National Parks, written and narrated by Barak Obama. I don't really understand the name, as it sounds like it's about American national parks, and it's filmed all over the world. (Maybe the word "Our" refers to the people of the entire world, not only America.) A lot of the first segment takes place in the jungles and rain forests of Africa. Some of it is in Yellowstone. It's beautiful wildlife photography, and really fun to watch.

If the rest of it is as good as the first segment, I really look forward to it.

Is this on Netflix? I've read about it and would like to watch it.....thanks

LOL....just now saw the title......Forgive me, I've been out in the sun all morning.

One of the most fascinating animals to 'watch' in a zoo. I became fascinated with hippos on all my trips to the zoos. The San Diego Zoo is amazing.

Hippos are aggressive because they will readily defend their territory, both in and out of the water. They will attack and capsize boats and will not tolerate humans getting between them and the water. Females are particularly defensive and aggressive if anyone gets between them and their young.

@Sunny , thank you so much for sharing this documentary.

I watched the first episode last night. It was pretty good, although mostly just videos of funny looking animals and interesting landforms. I'd like to hear a little about how the landforms were formed, like those spires in Hawaii. I believe they're igneous intruded rock from magma squirted into cracks and then the soil eroded away, but that's just a guess.

I watched what I thought was a very “interesting” documentary on the VICE” channel. The title caught my eye because I used to work with drug addicts through our church visiting our county prison. The documentary is titled “Dopesick America.” The show brings out the true facts what drug addicts go through from how they got started to how they continue feeding their addiction to how they try to get clean. Some of their stories are heartbreaking.

Another very good documentary on VICE is a series titled”Abandoned.” The series highlights malls, schools, racetracks, Route 66 and other interesting places that have been abandoned and now stand alone. I think it’s also available on ‘on demand,’

I didn’t mean on intend to hijack your thread. Sorry.

Wow! Thanks for telling me that there is something on Netflix other than nudity, swearing and shows geared to 16 year old. Seriously, I will have to watch this! This could be a "first" for Netflix or am I missing something?

Glad so many of you are enjoying it. I am not particularly a fan of nature documentaries, but this one is fascinating!

After the trailer link (post #8), there are comments. I liked the one that said, "Seems like a nice guy. I hope he makes something of himself some day." 😁

Yes it is a wonderful and informative documentary showing how humans are interconnected to these National Parks and the more that is set aside the more we all benefit.

Just finished watching a good British political drama on Netflix called Anatomy of a Scandal.

It’s a psychological courtroom drama based on a minister having an affair with his researcher and explores the fine line between justice and privilege.
