Got A Red Light Camera Infraction

Found this:
"In jurisdictions like California, red light camera tickets are issued to the driver only, then police departments rely on sending the ticket to the registered vehicle owner, hoping they will identify the driver in the photo, or use other methods like checking driver's license records of individuals living at the same address to try and match the driver captured on camera. If they cannot identify the driver, the ticket can not be enforced against anyone."

Wouldn't be very fair to the people killed from those thinking themselves above the law blowing through red lights and stop signs, Beez.
I am an excellent driver...have been for years. I made the correct decision when the light turned yellow. With a guy right on my tail, it was safer for me to go (safely) through the intersection than to get rear ended and land in the middle of the intersection.

Anyhoo, the City is already paying a Collection Agency to come after me. Now they can pay to house me in jail on weekends...because the City isn't getting a thin dime from me. And they have nothing better to do than harass people at Christmas time?

How do you know it wasn't a scam call? I always thought if you were ticketed by a camera you received the citation in the mail.

I see Alberta has just shut down 70 percent of its traffic cameras...the people are fed up with these City cash cows. If more people had an attitude like me, we'd have a freer, fairer society.
Arizona voters recently voted it illegal I think.

There are lots of states camera traffic cops are illegal in.
I don't really care, but there ARE lots of people who run red lights. They think yellow means floor it. 🤣

On the other hand, I had to pay an out of state ticket from a traffic camera cop:

I was driving an Ecodiesel 1500 RAM truck, pulling a 31', 6500lb trailer; v-6 engine, diesel. This was not a speedy type rig, trust me. And they don't stop on a dime, either, as the truck alone weighs like, 6,000 lbs?

In my case, the rig was simply too heavy to stop, and I wasn't speeding and in fact going slower than the speed limit when I came around this long curve. In a split second, I saw the yellow light come on, but determined in my head:

"It is 0530am, I don't see any other vehicles around at all. So instead of a panic stop with a 6500lb trailer behind me, I just stayed the same speed and drifted on through the intersection.

Several months later, I got this thing in the mail, saying I was here on such and such a date...and a photo of the truck IN the intersection, and the trailer not in the intersection yet. At first I could not remember me there at that time! I thought someone had stolen the truck and trailer! 🤣:ROFLMAO: Senior moment in spades!

I paid the $78.00 ticket. Beats what a jackknife or having the trailer brakes lock up.

Example:
My DH made a FAST stop due to a red light turning on him as we got off a freeway. We got rearended by the truck with a cattle guard on the front, and a loaded trailer behind HIM! Know where you are coming from.

My youngest daughter, driving a FIAT tiny car, stopped at a yellow/red light. The truck coming up behind HER didn't see HER OR the light change. He rear end plowed into her fiat, it flipped her FIAT UP in the air and upside down into the intersection and oncoming traffic.

She was ok and alive and the dog beside her did too.
The FIAT funeral was heartbreaking, it was the first new car she ever bought herself.

Miracles happen.

Speed Cams in work zones are getting quite a bit of publicity in New York right now.

If the camera catches you speeding in a construction zone it generates a fifty dollar ticket.
Around here, it's police on patrol who nab speeders, including along flagged highway repair/improvement with barriers. They do seem to allow a "grace" margin, meaning signs may specify a speed limit of 50km/hr, and if you've slowed to 54km/hr (that's 2.5mph faster) it's rather unlikely you'd be stopped.

On the open highway, if the speed limit is 90km/hr, and you're driving at 100, you might be stopped. What is it like where you live, Aunt Bea?

We have a brutal speed enforcement in our little town, but zero enforcement at intersections. It makes absolutely no sense.

That really does not make sense because intersections are where most crashes occur. I prefer the term crashes because in reality there are very few "accidents". Most traffic crashes occur because one or more persons are driving with a cerebral rectal inversion.

Having a truck and trailer combo that one can't control doesn't grant any special permission to ignore traffic laws.

Unfortunately in the past few years due to numerous factors traffic has increased and the "elders" on the city council prompted by their friends that live on the main drag have decided to cut the speed limits and go on a speed enforcement kick.

Who are you, my Mother?? I thought my Orwellian City was bad enough.
no, but someone who met your brother.no

Drivng a rig you cannot handle so you run a red light?

I have investigated several accidents at intersections where the cause was the driver of one vehicle ran the light or a stop sign. Some were fatal. If I had to guess, I would say about 10 deaths have occurred. Not all were investigated by me. One was a motorcycle. When I spoke to the witnesses, a few of them told me he was zig-zagging in and out of traffic. He was hit by a 1980 Jeep Wagoneer.

The one I remember most was a station wagon being T-boned by a 1988 F-350 Ford pickup going an estimated 58 mph before it hit the station wagon with 3 kids, a mom and dad in it. Killed were 2 of the children and mom. The third child was hospitalized for over 3 weeks.

For several years municipalities around So.Calif. installed cameras at intersections, the local city near here generated much revenue by making the traffic light cycle long on Red and short on green, encouraging drivers to risk running the red lights. Because the handling of the 'evidence' was done by a private firm out of state, there was a considerable backlash, and the practice was discontinued.

Phoenix stopped using cameras in 2019 but plans to bring them back by the end of 2025. Some cities in the surrounding metro area such as Scottsdale and Mesa still use them. Others such as Glendale stopped using them and have no plans to bring them back. I wish all the cities in the metro area could agree to do the same thing one way or another. Off topic but each city in the area has a different procedure for the left turn green arrow. Some cities here start the green light arrow at the start of the traffic flow while other cities start the green light arrow after the traffic flow.

One intersection I used on my commute had 56 seconds of green, 4 seconds of yellow, and 60 seconds red. It took multiple cycles to get through the intersection during rush and there was almost always a cop posted up handing out tickets. I'd have much preferred a camera, since cameras can't lie and make mistakes like a human being aka a cop.

There was an intersection near Bronx Botanical Garden that cops would trigger a light change w their patrol car as they saw a motorist approach giving the motorist zero time to react. They eventually got found out. NYPD sucks....

I blew through a red light apparently. A $330.00 ticket. The City Collection Agency just phoned me today demanding I pay it. I told them it was Christmas and I wasn't going to pay their 'cash grab ticket' anytime soon. Then I hung up on them.

I'll deal with this in the New Year.
I can't get away from replying.
Why do I feel this post should have been written by a 16 year old privileged brat?.
I'm waiting for "My dad will show those pigs who's boss".
Even your excuse is juvenile and immature.
Amazing.
