Hello, my name is Audra and I am 66 years old. I am recently retired as a Kindergarten Teacher in which I was an educator for 43 years. I have been happily married to my husband Scott for 44 years and we raised one daughter named Elizabeth who is now 42 years of age. You can see we were quite busy in those early years. All this was going on while my husband was getting his medical degree to become a Psychiatrist. We also have one grand-daughter named Kalina who is 16 years old.

My husband and I still don't consider ourselves "Empty Nesters" as we have a Pomeranian mix dog named Pom Pom who lives with us. As we are now both retired as of my husbands retirement at the beginning of August and my retirement at the end of this past school year we do plan on travelling more and going to bed and breakfasts and other nice relaxing places.

I also love to read and I mostly love reading romance novels. I will also spend a lot of time out in our backyard garden and I also enjoy shopping.

Hi Audra, I'm in my late 60's I don't feel it either... except when the horrible arhtritis pain is at it's worst in my hands and knees.. never expected to get this .. but as l still can get around very well as I did when I was 40, and can still run if I have to... I take not a great deal of notice about it

Hollydolly, thank you for the welcome. Most of my pain comes in my lower back region. I feel I am certain what that pain stems from. It is not only the years I raised my own daughter and had to bend and pick up toys constantly and even bend to pick her up, but 43 years of teaching kindergarten and the amount of bending to pick stuff off the floor like crayons, chalk, bits and pieces of construction paper. It has all taken a toll on my back.

I am still able to walk quite the distance, but I do refrain from running now even though I think I could in short spurts if I had to.

I feel for you, I didn't mention for fear of boring everybody here who knows all about it, but I too have lower back issues.. 7 herniated discs, and arthritis in my spine. trouble is I hate posting about it, because it sounds like I'm some old lady struggling to get around , nothing could be further from the truth... but just so you know, I know what it feels like. There's nothing I do that doesn't cause pain in my back it's a constant... een after seveal cortisone injections

I too have a daughter, but at 48 she's too big for me to pick up, thank Goodness..:ROFLMAO:

@hearlady I will be turning 67 in the early part of December. Thank You for the welcome.

@hollydolly My daughter is 42 so no more picking her up and even when I was teaching Kindergarten I did not pick up and carry the children in my class. I didn't even do that when I just started teaching in my 20's. However when teaching Kindergarten you can't imagine the amount of stuff that is constantly being dropped onto the floor and mostly by days end I was the one that had to pick it up.
