Yes, I'm new here. I've been online for many years, and thought it's time to look for a "seniors" community. I returned to Minnesota around two years ago to be near my brother and parents. My Dad & step-mother returned to Minnesota a few years ago to be near her adult children. My Dad recently turned 88 years old. I wanted to be sure we had some quality "in-person" time while we still had a chance. I'm living in the same building as my older brother.

I've been involved in various online communities, such as Facebook and YouTube. I've been growing tired of all the younger people acting like age is a social curse. Oh well, enough about me.

Welcome from Scotland! We here all know that old people are the coolest!! :D

Thanks, Hoot N Annie & Ameriscot! I bet the weather is good in Hawaii?! Ameriscot, I have a few friends in Scotland and "The UK." I love the way you folks talk! Oh, and I remember a show called Hootenany from the 60s!

Hi Ron!

Welcome-17.gif

We had a hint of summer a few weeks ago. Then we were clobbered by rainy, cold days.

NancyGA! Thanks. My parents lived in Lilburn GA for a few years before returning to Minnesota! Gail.S! Thanks! Ossian, how's the weather in TN?!

I just signed onto the forum yesterday. The response has been overwhelmingly positive. Thank you so much!

Where in Scotland or elsewhere in the UK are your friends?

I've forgotten exactly where they live. I went over to Twitter, and found that one is in or near Glasgow, Scotland. Another is near St Anne's or Blackpool (England). There's another in Scotland. Another in Belgium. I also have friends in Montreal, Australia, etc.

Welcome from Oregon. I've always thought that Minnesota must be a lot like western Oregon, except a lot colder. Our weather here has been unseasonably weird for several years.

Being near your folks in their declining years is a good thing to do. My interactions with my mom during that time helped me understand what kinds challenges people of that age face. I was ready for her to go when I saw the kind of indignities advanced age did to her. She became someone else in her last few years.

The people on this site are very nice. I've been here a little over a week, and already I feel very welcome.

I am also a writer.

Phoenix, we've had some really weird weather lately. We had a day or so of summer weather. Now we've been experiencing chilly, windy, rainy weather. I've lived in New Hampshire, Ohio, Minnesota (twice), Florida, Maine (maybe I forgot a place or two.) In retrospect, one cold place feels like another. My years in Salisbury NH (near Concord) instilled in me the need to be prepared. We lived 15 miles away from the nearest city. We drove over a lot of big hills, out in the country. We made sure to get gas at the store across the street, because we wouldn't find another gas station for at least 10 miles. After living in NH, I felt prepared for almost anything in MN, ME, etc.

Yes, I love this forum!

I'm relatively close to Glasgow - across the water.

I've got relatives, inlaws and friends in many countries as well.
