Greetings from The New Forest

The New Forest is one of the largest remaining tracts of unenclosed pasture land, heathland and forest in Southern England. It was proclaimed a royal forest by William the Conqueror, featuring in the Domesday Book.

My wife and I, both Baby Boomers, originate from London, but now we have swapped city life for the idyllic New Forest, long before Covid I must add, we have been here about twenty years. My knowledge of forums is limited, but I've always found them to be a good source of knowledge. Today though, I read about the rich getting away with murder and felt complied to respond.

Big warm welcome to you, Horseless Carriage, from Beautiful British Columbia Canada!

Thanks for the welcome. I'm trying to work out how to post a picture, the only way that I can see is the small icon to the right of the smiley, but that doesn't access my photo album. Any suggestions?

If I'm not mistaken, a minimum post count and specific amount of time as a member on the forum is required before such privileges are extended.

Welcome to you, Horseless Carriage.

I hope you will find more topics to share with us, as well as enjoy learning about the forum, as an interesting manner of sharing ideas, experiences and viewpoints, with others.

Hey Neighbour from the other side of London to you ..here in Rural Herts... I lived in Hants way back in the 70's...

The small icon to the right of the smiley is the correct place to post a url of an image, but I think you may have to have around 20 posts before you can post pictures here...

Thank you for the warm welcome, it's much appreciated. When I reach the mandatory number of posts that permit me to put up photos I will share with you some of the sights and pleasures of the location where I live. My wife and I never get tired of it. We did enjoy city living when we had a London address. Our move came about with a job offer. The job was in Southampton, about seventy-five miles south of London. My wife, who worked as an ambulance paramedic was able to transfer to Hampshire ambulance at Ringwood. That's a market town about twenty or so miles west of Southampton. We chose to live near my wife's place of work, my commute didn't take long and as there was a company car with the job, it didn't cost much either.

We used to live in Gosport in Naval married quarters....

More welcomes, much appreciated. Ken & Lee, are you early risers or very late to bed? Or maybe Covid has made you lose track of time completely.
Holly, my wife's sister used to reside in Hatfield when she was married to her first husband.

Incidentally we have a dedicated photo forum ..all different categories, if you'd like to post your photos there when you're ready..., many of us are avid photo takers :)

you'll find it here.... https://www.seniorforums.com/forums/photography.29/
Indeed I will. My wife and I are long time dancers, as in Latin & Ballroom. We love the vintage scene too, that's where Horseless Carriage comes from. I have a vintage MG. The New Forest has a rich source of subjects for photographing and there are so many local events too.
Poole Goes Vintage springs to mind. This link will take you to that event a few years back. You will see my car there.

Early riser here, it is now 5:40AM Sunday morning..
I've never actually been to Dallas but my wife and I spent about six hours hanging around Dallas airport some years ago. We couldn't get a direct flight to Nashville from the UK and the best that our travel agent could come up with was to fly to Dallas and then connect to Nashville on an internal flight. Had I known that we were going to be there that long I would have done a deal with one of the taxi drivers outside to take us on a sight seeing tour.

Is that your own website ?... your MG is beautiful .. . we've said often we'd like to visit a Vintage event but there never seems to be any held in this area. We have a member here who sometimes post those same type of events from the Midlands, where his family member runs a mobile vintage WW2 pub...

The website is of a photographer name of Adrian Lambert. I've known Adrian a number of years. He phoned me before that event and asked if I would bring the car, he also said that he would introduce me to Wendy Peart who runs a modelling agency. She had asked if she could use my car as a prop for her models to pose around. Who said that getting old is boring?
