As I understand it, he was a wholesale grocer who was hired as a 'man in the street' / 'cheeky chappie' to add a bit of levity to the cooking competition. However it is alleged that he acted 'inappropriately' both physically and verbally to female contestants.
I thought that in Masterchef and other shows that he appeared in, he was 'over enthusiastic' and I can believe that some people would have been uneasy in his presence. Perhaps, he was simply the wrong person for the job.
