... or what it used to be, I should have asked.

From the McKinney fire in Northern California.

When the terrestrial signal is cut you can actually hear the fans freaking out through the reporters remote link.

@FastTrax KGO has TV news and it's radio is an iconic station that used to have 24 hour unique talk and news but was taken over by another company a number of years ago. They went all syndicated and it was a nightmare. They eventually brought back live hosts but are only on live from 6am to 7pm now. Other than that, it's all syndicated. I believe radio broadcasts from downtown SF the way they talk although I think my favorite host may broadcast from southern California.

I was living in Washington State when the earthquake happened. I could get KGO up there at night but not during the day. I listen to them in my car and stream on the computer. I've literally listened to that station since I was a kid.

Syndication has been a cash savings cow that benefits both the giver and the taker. I know that sounds very basic but I possess zero knowledge of the media industries marketing buzz words. I'll check and give you an update on them. I believe they share space on the world famous Sutro Tower.

I don't know much about it myself. As a long time KGO listener, I've seen the changes. They did an upheaval a number of months ago. Got rid of one after noon host, didn't like him anyway. Gave the earlier afternoon host an extra hour and stopped live talk at 7pm instead of 9pm. I'm sure this was all to save money. Weekends are nothing but "balance of nature," vitamin D crap and some financial programing.

Also my absolute favorite news person ever, Bret Burkhart, just left KGO after almost 25 years and is now at another all news station in the Bay area. Wonder what was up with that? I really enjoyed him. I've heard media is very cut throat.

I don't know if it's still true but KGO could be heard from Mexico to Canada at night. Now of coarse there is streaming.
