That's the thing, the drugs were part of the plan. How far in advance the terrorists starting taking them is another question. My guess the Hamas organization has plenty of ginned up recruits that will do anything, the drugs are just the final touch.

The plan was hatched 2 years go, Training and prep started in August so that gave plenty time to find radical zealots among their own. Most of them probably knew and hoped for a mission like this. They say Japanese Kamakazes during WWII were given cocaine before their final mission. I guess the stimulants help prevent backing out or changing one's mind.

No kidding. Where I live lots of men are high on drugs. I don't think they are Hamas but I don't think I want to go up to them and ask.

Sometimes it's hard to tell whether they are high on drugs or just plain crazy. Often it's both.

Most drugs don't manufacture or make behavior or put thoughts in one's head they tend to lower impulse control and allow abusers to act on what's running through their head. If a druggie says the drugs made them do it-no they couldn't control their urges starting the first day you used them. A drug didn't tell them get a screw driver prop/break a window to rob a house.

My guess the Hamas leaders hand picked, brain washed and/or ginned up their recruits. A lot of followers might talk trash or be true believers but not that many would behead people. The leaders knew exactly what they were looking for to complete the mission.
 
I think whether they were high, drunk, or whatever, is totally irrelevant. What they did was the same kind of evil no matter what they had ingested. Nobody (and probably no drug) forced them to kill all those innocent people, let alone babies. They were acting on pure hatred, and throwing the drugs into it is just a red herring.

If the captagon was found in their bodies, that's another whole issue, but it certainly doesn't make terrorists any less guilty.
 
Use of drugs in war in nothing new. The Nazi's used amphetamines. Cocaine was the drug used in WW1. Peyote has been used for centuries. In the American Civil War it was opiates.
