Hammock Happiness

Howdy Doody!

For the past few weeks I've been enjoying sleeping outdoors in my Hammock, under the Desert stars, with a light Breeze, wih temperatures in the mid-70's.

My hammock isn't the traditional type, slung between 2 trees, but is a portable, self-supporting hammock with a tubular steel frame, supporting a 3' x 6-1/2' sleeping surface suspended between 2 horizontal end beams. The sleeping surface is less than 2' off the ground.

It's very stable, with no twisting or swaying, and it's impossible to fall out of!

BUT:
Last night when I went outside at my usual time of 10PM with my Pillow and Chilled Water Bottle, I lowered my 200 pounds on the bed and with a loud Rrrrrrrrip, the bed fabric split open from side to side, dropping me on the ground, which was only about 1-1/2 feet down.

Now I'll have to buy a replacement bed sleeping surface or possibly a complete Hammock. [Pictures follow]

Nice sleeping outdoors Hal, hope you're okay, nice hammock.

The hammock problem appears to simply be too many beans at supper time. When you replace the hammock cloth, you may want to get one with a fiberglass or even stainless steel protective shield... or invest in some Beano!!!:)

Yes, Falcon...it tells me that I need to replace the hammock soon if I want to enjoy the rest of the season outdoors!

About my 200 pounds...I'd look too thin at 6'2" if I lost any more weight...this was at 208.

hdh

I think it had more to do with the material being out in the sun and elements, fabric like that will kind of dry out and crumble after time.
