We don't like to go out that late either, but we can see some fireworks in the skies from area displays just from our back yard. We don't get that excited about it anymore, so sometimes I just watch from the window. :p Plus, the dog does NOT like the noise of firecrackers, etc. Although it's not allowed in my area due to drought conditions, there's always people who have to celebrate.

I'm so glad I'm livin' in the USA!

Our country certainly has made and continues to make some terrible mistakes both at home and around the world . . . and, heck, even out in space I suppose. But, in the face of our faults, I love my country and will stand for your right to live your life the way you choose.

Liberty and Freedom for All!

I agree, as bad as it seems here at times, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else in the world...born and raised in the USA.

Living right on the water for many, many years would usually step outside and watch the fireworks going off at the cliff above the water. Then, it got beyond crazy. Fires, fights and foolishness. Then, living at the vineyard on the ridge top would watch fireworks going off down below at the beach. Now, living in the country just a mile from the water will probably hear some but doubt I will see any.

I remember people exploding stuff for weeks before and after The Fourth (New Year, too). Then, the crackdown and hardly hear any until the day itself. It's for the best as loud explosions right outside my door usually have me diving for cover, anyway.

Hope you're all having a great day. Very quiet around here for the 4th; we've heard a few firecrackers the past few nights but nothing today; unless it all breaks loose tonight. No plans to speak of; we can see some of the fireworks they set off in town, so usually don't go out.
Compared to when we first moved here, things have gotten much quieter for the holiday - used to hear noise for days before and after.

Anne, it's quiet here too so far. Neighbors are having a big shindig, expect to hear the fireworks later when it gets dark. Been hearing some for a few days now. What scares me is that everything's so dry from the drought, and many fires still going here. Usually the next morning I'll find a bunch of rocket thingys, and screamers that shoot into the air on the lawn, in the trees, on the sidewalk, street, etc. Just hope if I have to run out with the hose at night, that I'll still be awake to realize it.

Pappy, cute cartoon...and thanks for all the chuckles you give me with your ever-changing signatures...:playful:
