Haven't heard that one either, well have a good one girlfriends! :girl_hug:

So when are we going to get International MEN'S Day? It's all about equality, right? How about International Left-Handed Ford-Driving 24-Year-Old Baptist Day - do we have one of those?

Everybody has to be special, everybody has to be recognized - phooey! If the day ever came that the people of the world recognized that everyone is the same we wouldn't NEED "holidays" like this.

Okay, I'm done ranting. :playful:

SifuPhil, having been married 45 years to the same man and raised three sons, I figure that every other day of the year is "Mens Day." Well, wait---not Mother's Day and certainly not my birthday. But, 362 days a year ain't bad. Tomorrow will be here in just under eleven hours.

Thanks for all the support here, gentlemen ...

Prickly, that's a very sexist thing to say. As a male I take offense at the implication that there are days devoted to me exclusively ...

  • I cannot shop for lingerie during sale days without strange looks
  • I cannot reserve a birthing room for myself no matter WHAT day of the year it is
  • Female drivers still attempt to run me over on Father's Day

My attorney (a female) will be in touch with you shortly for reparations.

Although I lightheartedly wished all the gals well on our "special day", I have to say that I show no disrespect to the men in doing so. My husband contributes much more to our relationship that can be measured in chores or tasks. Aside from being playful in this thread, I am of the mindset that there are already too many holdiays on the books, without making up new ones. When I first heard of Secretaries Day, I thought it was a clever ploy made by the flower, candy and greeting card companies...how they play on us and our emotions...really.

I've done a little research on strange holidays because that was going to be the focus of my website Philstivus - like that episode of Seinfeld where they come up with the holiday of Festivus, Philstivus was going to be MY personal holiday.

This in turn came about because for many, many years now I have not celebrated the normally-celebrated holidays. Christmas and Thanksgiving became non-affairs after my divorce; my birthday ceased to be anticipated somewhere around 1984. The rest, well, religious holidays are right out, non-events like President's Day and Groundhog Day were never observed to begin with, and the Hallmark Holidaze of St. Valentine's Day, Secretary's Day, Second-Cousin-Twice-Removed Day ... they deserve as much scorn as I can heap upon them.

I'm sorry if it offends anyone, but IWD is just another one of those non-events for me.

... besides, March 8th is National Thank Your Stripper Day in Philstivus.
