Happy Ramadan, @OneEyedDiva ! You mentioned not fasting because of the diabetes... that brought up a question in my mind. The people who are facing starvation in various areas of the world (i.e. war zones)... are they required to actually fast for the month or are there special rules in place for circumstances like that?

Athan, the Islamic app that helps us keep track of prayer times, among other things, is listing things to be conscious of and strive for during Ramadan (although we should be aspire to these all the time). Included in the list of things to do during the 10 days of Ramadan (so far) are: Day

3.. Teach one good deed to a child. (No this doesn't mean you only ever teach one good deed to a child).
5. Refrain from backbiting and gossiping.
7. Offer 3 missed prayers,
8. Give up on a grudge
9. Empathize with people in your circle.
10. Feed the poor in your community.
