Has anyone tried adaptogenic mushrooms?

Adaptogenic mushrooms are a group of mushrooms known for their ability to help the body adapt to and resist stress, both physical and mental. They are classified as adaptogens, a broader category of substances that support the body's natural stress response and promote overall health.

We have a wellness store in town that has tons of new age products. I wonder if it is worth the money to try something that could be very helpful. I don't want to spend money on snake-oil.

I'd try some of those mushrooms 🍄 I could use a natural stress reducer!

I tried reishi for a while, back 10 years or more. I couldn't perceive any distinct benefit. I'm still open-minded about these mushrooms though.

We have someone who helps us on our place from time to time. This person has told me they have a daily morning routine of ingesting a self-prepared mixture of mostly reishi and some psilocybin, in powdered form.

By the way, the psilocybin is powdered from natural mushrooms, unplanted & growing abundantly in nearby pastures in this region. This morning micro-dose doesn't produce psychedelic effects... this person uses the combination to ward off a tendency to mild depression. For what it's worth, all outward signs during a 4-7 hour helping day are of a skilled, diligent, cheerful individual.

I haven’t a clue where anyone would buy these mushrooms. Aren’t they all illegal.

My DD was in downtown Toronto and kept seeing a sign for them on poles - ‘knock on the pink door’. She never saw a pink door.

@Jules, I could be wrong, but I believe the ones Nathan mentioned have always been available legally in Canada.

The psilocybin ones are frowned upon or verboten, legally. But since they're as natural to portions of the BC landscape as dogwood shrubs, bracken ferns, or Ponderosa pine trees, the picking of them isn't anything that's realistically feasible for police to control.

A few days ago, I saw a segment on the nightly news that because supplements are totally unregulated by the FDA that people have suffered severe adverse consequences. Now I take vitamin B and D suggested by my doctor.

The man they featured had took over-the-counter supplement to be healthy because he was on a diet and it was destroying his liver. Luckily, he found out before it was too late. So naturally, I’m weary of anything whether it’s labeled natural or not.

I bought some mushroom supplements from Amazon, and have added them to my coffee. I think that I do not remember to do this often enough to notice real benefits from it, but a lot of people have noticed benefits when using mushrooms. All foods have some benefits (or drawbacks); so it stands to reason that mushrooms would also have the same features.
There are quite a few brands of mushroom coffee, and the brand I have used is called Four Sigmatic. They also have a book about the uses of adding mushrooms , as well as several types of coffee with mushroom extracts added.

Try light exercise on a daily basis and some meditation or practice mindfulness in your activities to deal with stress. All free, and no worries of side effects. Life is hard, you can't avoid all stress and taking drugs in any kind of form is NOT the answer.

I guess some of the magic mushrooms are legal with Dr. prescript in Oregon: I read about a gal who was dying of cancer and got a microdose and said it really helped with her depression and anxiety.

There was a stigma and prohibition for decades... after Timothy Leary shot off his mouth a lot in the 1960s, and flouted the law in the U.S. and Mexico. There was a media frenzy and the general public became concerned. Substances were 'scheduled', new laws enacted, and research was terminated.

I've heard psilocybin research has been going on for a while in Oregon... also in the UK. Johns Hopkins University, in Maryland, is doing research. Canada now has a federally sponsored research program going on now, with psychiatrists & therapists involved. They're studying the benefits of psilocybin for otherwise-intractable depression.

Maybe not the answer for You
but many people get help they need from antidepressants and a few other types of medicines. Not everyone can exercise or even want to and they have a right to their choices.

Oh let me clarify please:rolleyes:

Of course antidepressants and other prescribed pharmaceuticals help many people. I am NOT against prescribed antidepressants.

This is something that the younger generations will understand better than us. I hope that serious research looks closely at the use of psychoactive plants.

When I have used LSD, or mushrooms for beneficial reasons, it has always been a positive experience. I find no attractive reason to misuse these plants.
