Hate Is A Terrible Attribute

Thank you, Matrix.

The thread did better than I expected. I knew we had some posters that do have hate in their hearts and hate is a terrible thing. It’s the tool that Satan depends on for it to keep up its membership. People that have hate in their heart probably shouldn’t be posting at all, IMO. We are supposed to be a friendly bunch of people on here.

I would think if you are going to post a hateful comment, that person should just close it and even block the person who started the thread. I respect everyone’s opinion, except when it contains hate. Hate tells the world what type of person they really are. I prefer not to associate myself with those type of people. I had my suspicions about a few posters on here and at least one was confirmed.

Thanks for allowing the thread to go as far as it did.

This forum provides a way to deal with people whom you find "hateful". The "ignore" function. Making personal judgements about other people usually brings that hate into your own life. Then you have to carry that around inside. I don't like that because it affects my experiences in a negative way. Instead of fighting with by being judgmental I find it works better to ignore the person, and then occasionally read some their responses to see if it is "chronic".

Actually, if we want to quote the Bible on what “tool” Satan uses the most, and perhaps most effectviely (though that is debatable), it’s LIES.

He is called “The Father of Lies”. John 8:44 - He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

Is it OK, permissable, for a believer to hate unrighteousness, injustice, liars, schemers and those who deceive others? I think that’s OK and shows discernment and maybe even wisdom.

I don’t understand the last line in your post.

One of the first things I remember my mom explaining to me as a child , was about hating. She said we should never hate another person, we were all children of the same God.
She said it was fine to hate an evil deed that the person did, but not to hate the person themself.

As @Aunt Bea mentioned, it is always possible to express your opinion about something in a respectful way and not personally attack any other person while doing that.
Especially in political threads, it seems like there are always name-callers and haters who attack rather than discuss or debate in a respectful manner. That is why Matrix had to stop allowing anything that even comes close to being political being discussed on this forum.

There are some forums where politics is discussed in an “anything goes” manner, and also others where personal attacks are not allowed, so people who want to discuss this can always find a place to do so.
I try to avoid any thread topic that looks controversial on this forum, because sometimes it seems to end up in a trash-fight and has to be closed down.
I enjoy discussions, but hate personal attacks.

Some people accuse others of what they are guilty of, like being hateful. We see a lot of that these days. Hate is just as ugly if it's passive aggressive, you can't sugar coat your hate by criticizing others. What some call hate is usually just patriotism and want for fairness and justice.

I hate personal attacks too and since I don’t know anyone here in real life, it’s impossible to say I hate them.

If I find someone’s posts or comments annoying or interpret them to be personal attacks on me, I just block them. That is a feature of this site. Once you block/ignore them you can no longer see what they have written.
