Have you ever been determined to be positive no matter the person or circumstance?

I recently decided to be positive amongst certain people, who tend to be so very negative just out of the blue! Well, when that proved difficult, I just left the room and came back and just acted like nothing happened. Difficult? Indeed! It proved beneficial. Needless to say, situations like that never stop popping up. So, you get plenty of opportunities to exercise being positive. I don't always succeed. But, I am determined!

Good luck. I believe positivity can work but have trouble remaining positive during life's trials and reversals. I'm not sure that I believe the 3D world is a hologram and the only reality is psychological. If you get run over by a car and seriously injured or if a family member dies (in the 3D world), if your daughter is raped and/or your son shot, how are you supposed to deny or jolly yourself out of that? It borders on delusion to believe the 3D world is the illusion and the imagination is true reality.

Someone convince I am wrong about this.

Agreed! There are those who believe that no matter what happens we are to always walk on the sunny side of the street. But unless you have been born with a silver spoon in your mouth your gonna run into some 3D walls, and it is going to cause major suffering. It can not be avoided. I tend to see suffering as a built in part of life. We experience some horrible times and we experience happy times. Neither is better or worse.

I don't know. But I have trouble believing every bad thing that happens is somehow OUR fault because we are not thinking correctly. This is such a psychological strain. I believe bad things can happen to good people and random stuff can happen to anyone. I've had days that started out terrible and ended good and days that started out wonderful and ended awful. Maybe everybody has?

I certainly have, many times.. and it's always such a shock if the day starts out well and ends in a horrible situation.. usually if not always not my fault..so there's no way that I could have avoided the situation or prevented it..

Good for you, @fancicoffee13 !

I have put some effort into changing my attitude and my words. However, I'm still a whiner and complainer. Even if I only think the thoughts and don't say anything.

I have had a hard life. And I believe that each of us is born a certain way, or were affected at an early age, and can only change so much.

Good luck. I hope you get some wonderful results!

I believe we each are unique and so many things go into making up who we are that it is almost impossible to comprehend. I am not a religious person but I do believe there is a lot of common sense in many biblical teachings, such as "judge not". The saying "I have never met a man I didn't like" has always resonated with me because it is so hard to dislike or hate someone after you get to know them and understand what makes them the way they are.

The most irritating trite, buzz words of the past decade to me are "choose to be happy". We can try to be happy, but being happy is not a choice, it is an effect.

It's not possible to think only good thoughts.
A strong mind will respond with tolerance. A weak mind takes upon itself the the whole insult or negativity.
Indifference is probably the best response to any negative influence in the life.
Just don't attend to it.
But, Positive thinking is not a basis for living one's life. it's self-deluding. it's on the gross conscious thinking level.

Good for you! I am the same way. I am making a 'game' out of it...and not just people, but things I do not like or might upset me I work at trying to see them all from a different angle. It's kind of fun..doesn't always work but is worth trying. (y)

I know what you mean and I understand it is easy to be positive and philosophical when we are not in a trying situation. So I try to work on small situations in the hopes that when the bigger challenges come I can better handle them with some positivity. When my husband died I had to keep reminding myself at least he is now out of pain. Then I remind myself I do believe in life after life so there will be a great reunion in the sky🤗
If doubts come and say maybe that is not true, I answer..well what if it IS true...and conclude it is better to think that way than
negatively.

This is something I have thought about too. It is suggested by some philosophies and some seem to make sense. Bad things do happen to good people and I question why. One theory is we are all ONE so perhaps we are helping carry out what someone else needs to overcome but does not have the strength. Another says our challenges are carryovers from previous lives..(not that I am sure we have previous lives.)
Others say we have to have the bad to appreciate the good..I do not like that one..

I have the book Happiness is a Choice front and center in one of my rooms..I believe it is a choice and we get there through our actions and words...and I think we are pretty much saying the same thing.(y)

I like "renunciation" of negative/people thoughts. This works. but how does one LIVE in an imaginary world and were we meant to? Or, is the whole law of attraction a farce? Some aspects of it work for me like a miracle and very quickly but when it comes to concrete things like illness or finance I cannot argue with my 3D world. It's all very interesting and mind boggling at times.

Brilliant!

I have a sister in law who never stops complaining, all gloom and doom. A few years ago, I decided to be cheerful and positive around her, no matter what she said. After about a week, she called my husband (her brother) and asked him what was wrong with me. She told him, "Jaiden's acting really weird."
