Have you ever been hypnotized?

We went to the fair today and attended a hypnotist show. Guess what? Apparently I can't be hypnotized. Which, after I saw what happened to the people who could be hypnotized, I was grateful for....

It was pretty funny, though. I can't make up my mind whether those people were "under" or whether some were ringers.

I'd still like to be hypnotized sometime, just not where I'll do something embarrassing in public...

I took a class that had hypnosis as one of it's topics and found out I can't be hypnotized very easily either. But I've never tried it.

I tried hypnosis to quit smoking. I wasn't really hypnotized as far as I know. Anyway, didn't help. I had to use my own willpower.

My whole class was hypnotized by our teacher in high school. He was also a psychologist. First he played a tape of soft rhythmic music like bells tolling. We all started to drift and were nodding away when the alarm bell for the end of the class period buzzed and we all woke up with a jerk and our teacher said &*#@ ! He really had us. You have to be super relaxed for it to work.

Later I went to a hypnotist to quit smoking but it didn't work at all. It's a very interesting experience when it does work.

I'm probably one of those people who couldn't be hypnotized. I'm too cynical. If somebody said, "You are getting sleepy," I'd immediately think, "Sez who?"

Yes, I took a class through the community college. It was kind of cool. I wasn't out of it. I was always aware, but it mellowed me out, which is what I needed at the time.

Same thing here, Robusta. Only I tried it twice. I'm a slow learner. Gum, pills, you name it. Finally, just plain old will power.

A psychiatrist tried once, to help me remember something, but was unsuccessful. He said I was "too tense".
