2 weeks ago I got a call from someone who said they were with PUBLISHERS CLEARING HOUSE. They said I won 11, million dollars plus a car. They asked me if I would prefer a red car, or, blue or white. I explained I never used PCH. They said they had my address and phone number. They have called every day since then. Today they said they were coming after 4 pm.
They also said I needed a check for $500. to pay for shipping. Of course, I had called PCH days ago and they said the calls were never from them. Do people really buy into these scams

You should immediately report it to law enforcement. They can track the number (if the scammers haven't moved on) and at the very least record your incidents. Have you considered letting the PD come to your house, and then baiting PCH to tell them you are ready with the cash?

That's what I would do!

Often phone calls indicate a local number but in fact, they are from overseas (ie India, Mexico, ???) I tried blowing a "whistle into the phone and the calls stopped for a month or two.

I almost got sucked in with a Paypal scam, but realized it. I recently had fraudulent sharges made by a Daytona Beach Auto supply place. I am in CA LOL. It was a PITA to change all the autopays with my new CC number.

I did call the Police and they said they would monitor my house.

I don't answer my phone and delete all suspicious emails. So scammers have a hard time getting at me. Stunts like "you've won" or "eligible to win" are red flags.

I have had a few cc fraudulent charges but was able to dispute and have them removed. Had to change my cc card a few times too.

There is a sucker born every minute. Some folks just waste their time doing things that make no sense. The information about scams is out there. If you believe in Santa Claus, that Elvis Presley is alive, the tooth fairy and that the Easter Bunny is coming soon; you are ripe for a scam.

i knew of a military nurse who was scammed of her life savings by someone posing to be in the military. when she was informed about several of the possible outcomes and she was asked if they should proceed (overseas) she balked at the mention of the possibility of violence. how ironic?

One day I was waiting outside of my Wife's office building. A young guy came up to me and gave me sad story about needing $20 to get home to Barrie ( a city a hours drive north of Toronto ) on the bus. I smiled and said sure...But first show me anything with a Barrie city address on it, like a OHIP card or a driver's license...He walked away. A couple of days later, at the same place he tried it again, and I told him I wasn't stupid, but I also have a good memory. He walked away, again. JimB.

I've had the same thing happen to me when I was at two different gas stations .. same guy.
I said "take a very good look at my face, and remember it .. because this is the second time you've come
to me with the same story". He couldn't get away fast enough.

I haven't 🤞

I did know a lady who met a guy online and very quickly they were in love and making plans which obviously involved her sending him money. We all warned her but she was convinced that he was genuine. It was upsetting for her but fortunate that, before she could send him anything, she was contacted by a reporter who was helping a couple of ladies who had previously been scammed by the same guy, or at least whoever was behind the fake account. It was a long time ago and although she did not appear on the tv report, the other ladies did and they had both sent money.

it always amazes me when I hear these stories about ..and tbf it is usually women... who meet some smooth talking guy online and within a very short time sending them money on the pretext of mega dosh being paid back... STOP!!! .. in the very first place.. I don't care what excuse mr Scammer has about having no money.. he could have been mugged, robbed.. burnt the money, had a ÂŁ1m inheritance due to them.. .. however he came to be without any... I would not , NUMERO UNO>. be interested in any guy who is trying to romance me , and he tells me he has no money.... FGS what is wrong with these women that they're so desperate for any guy, that they're willing to take someone who they barely know.. and believe a sob story about having no money ! Beggars Belief!!

Did you have the coffee on , ready for their arrival this afternoon ?... I'm sure they were very grateful, given they were just about to present you with a shiny new car...

I worked with seniors and elderly. Sometimes they would tell me things they would never tell their children.
There is a lot of scamming going on and it's very sad. Most were not bad enough that they couldn't afford it but one man was totally scammed out of his life savings.
His son in law actually checked the whole thing out for him, spoke with individuals, got so called documents etc but in the end they got it all and he had to start over. Not sure if his SIL and daughter lost anything but I'm sure it was a horrible situation.

A man on Facebook through my nephew's page (I have my security settings pretty tight) sent me a friend request because my "profile picture was just adorable".
I may be many things but adorable I am not. I changed my adorable picture to scenery and blocked him fast!

how 'bout being contacted by the irs... to sign up for health insurance? sounds rather threatening if it wasn't too funny.
