Stopped in the outer lobby of post office earlier to mail something, stayed a couple minutes at the customer counter/prep area fiddling with my phone. (Service area was closed and the gate was pulled down, but there was open access to locked p.o. boxes). I happened to look down and saw what looked like a credit card, but upon closer examination saw it was a prepaid debit card with Visa logo.
I stood there a minute, then decided to just slip it into the mail slot where I'd put my item. I didn't want to just leave it there, and no staff was on duty. Even if the person came back looking for it, better to cancel the card and check with post office on Monday. That's what I'd want someone to do if it were me - sure wouldn't want my card just laying there begging to be stolen!
Couple years ago I was using an ATM machine outside the bank and saw that someone had left a credit card on the little ledge, so since it was during bank hours I took it inside and gave it to a teller.
